My family and I stayed in 2 rooms which inc a dinner package.
We had a very warm lovely welcome by the receptionist who was extremely helpful.
Our room was not as clean as we would have expected which was a shame but it was nice to have a room with 2 double beds. The handle on one of the bathroom doors was faulty so we had to leave it open when using the bathroom.
We had booked the dinner package and booked our table in advance for 7pm. I understand that they were quite busy that evening but unfortunately we still didn't get our food order taken until 8pm. The kids got their meals soon after but the adult main meals didn't arrive until 9pm. It was a long time for us to wait when our children were getting restless and tired. We also by that point felt it was too late to eat and didn't finish our meals. We did speak to the manager and eventually they did compensate for the long wait so we appreciated that.
Breakfast was brilliant lots of choice and good timings for breakfast.
The swimming area needs a bit of a refurb. Even though there is lots of space it just needs a bit of TLC and a refresh.
Other than the few items mentioned we still had a lovely stay with family
The receptionists were exceptional and every understanding. They even spoke to us the following day to apologise about the issue with the dinner.
We wouldn't let it stop us from staying there again.
I would rate this hotel as only average.
There are some positives, such as, the breakfast which was very tasty and hot, the comfort of the bed, the shower was powerful and hot and the TV, which allowed me to watch programmes that I wanted.
However, the negatives are not so good.
These include: -
1. When I booked, I saw nothing mentioned of how the elevator did not operate from lower ground (LG) to upper ground (UG). The only means of getting to the reception, which is on the UG level is by climbing 12 steps. This was totally unacceptable as two of my party are elderly, very frail and have extreme difficulties in ascending and descending stairs. Had we have been advised prior to booking, I am certain we wouldn't have booked.
2. The gentlemen's toilet in the reception has an awful odour as you enter it.
3. On to our designated rooms. We stayed in rooms 527 & 523 (second party).
With 527, the air conditioning does not operate and on entry to the room it was particularly stuffy and hot. Moreso, as a safety precaution, and because it is a high level floor, it is not possible to open the windows to allow airing of the room. This just accentuated the discomfort as the room was too warm.
The toilet flush pressure was poor and flushed too short. I should leave that to ones imagination.
In 523, the hairdryer does not work.
4. One annoying issue; which was not only experienced by us, but also by the patron of room 511; was after we had finished our breakfast and returned to our rooms, none of us could enter due to the key cards being disabled. This was at 1040, and we were prior advised that check out was at 1100.
This was corrected by Tracey, who was apologetic and very nice to deal with (which is another positive, of course).
All in all, my memory of this stay, which was only for 20 hours, will not be the best experience of a hotel stay that I've ever had, and unless they can correct the negatives very soon, I am sorry to say that I would not recommend to family or friends to stay here.
The breakfast is delicious. The location is convenient after visiting Stonehenge, but the reception can provide the basic stuff for us when we check in, for example toothbrush, shaver, so that we don’t need to ask after going to the room
Such a great team, extremely friendly they have just refurbished the rooms and hotel
The mocktails were amazing
The food is extremely good, I actually invited my local friends down for Dinner and lunch and they were talking about it the next day which is always a good sign. I would definitely stay again the only thing I would say, is the beds/mattress are extremely firm.
But everything else is perfect 👌
Our stay at this hotel left us feeling a bit underwhelmed. While I wouldn't go so far as to say avoid it entirely, I can't recommend it or see myself returning.
The room, advertised as having a king-size bed, disappointingly turned out to be a double. Despite the hotel's emphasis on green choices, the room was unbearably warm upon arrival. We had to open both the windows and the door just to cool it down. This lack of basic comfort seemed counterintuitive to their eco-conscious branding.
Furthermore, small but crucial amenities were absent, such as a hairdryer, and some lights weren't working. The absence of an in-room phone meant there was no easy way to request these missing items, adding to the overall inconvenience.
The breakfast experience was equally disappointing. The so-called buffet consisted of a small, albeit pleasant, continental breakfast. However, being asked immediately upon arrival if we'd like to pay an additional £10 for a cooked breakfast made the setup feel misleading. At £14.50, the continental breakfast alone did not feel like good value.
The restaurant also had a notice about a £2.50 charge for menu amendments. While I understand the principle of upcharges, this particular policy felt excessive and off-putting.
These issues were compounded by a lack of personal touches that form the foundation of good customer service. No one asked at checkout or during breakfast how our stay had been, a small but impactful gesture that could have mitigated some of our disappointments.
In hindsight, I feel I overpaid by about 20-30% compared to the value I received. Knowing what I do now, I likely wouldn't have chosen this hotel for our stay.
The room is not big, but very clean. The breakfast is very good. The chef greets you every day and asks what you want to eat. He is very enthusiastic. The waiter is also very enthusiastic and helps to call a taxi. However, the wooden floor can hear the creaking sound of people walking upstairs.
The location is very good. Turn right and walk for five minutes to the central square of the town. It is very convenient for shopping, eating and drinking. There is also a bus stop at the door

GGuest UserThis hotel is very pleasant, I like the hotel environment, it is really beautiful, the front desk service is also warm, the breakfast is rich, the bed is very comfortable, all of which makes us feel very good.
GGuest User”Our stay at DoubleTree Hotel was pleasant and comfortable. The check-in process was smooth, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and well-maintained, with all the necessary amenities provided. We especially appreciated the warm cookies upon arrival, a nice touch that added to the welcoming atmosphere. While the decor may be somewhat dated, it didn't detract from our overall experience. The location was convenient, with easy access to transportation and nearby attractions. Overall, DoubleTree Hotel provided us with a satisfactory stay and good value for the price.”
GGeeTurnerThe staff were lovely! However we were placed in a room where the tv did not work, the window didn’t shut completely, and we had no hot water.
The staff were amazing and the location was great if you have a car!
PPetPetToursHit the jack pot with the White Horse Inn. This bed and breakfast is a gem if you’re looking for a quiet and secluded getaway.
The rooms are comfy, service is very friendly and the food is delicious. Enjoy everything about the White Horse and highly recommended.
PPHYO PHYO WAI YANG YINGWe drove all the way from London to WHATLEY MANOR, the location is really rural bit quiet. IT IS A VERY BEAUTIFUL MANOR SINCE 1929. We booked a suite room and upgraded to extra single bed for my son and cost 150£, which is considered very expensive. We booked for 2 nights and it cost us 1500£, [ breakfast included ] in my opinion is very pricey for this location. I think their selling points are spa, sauna, thermal room , hydro pool but for Asian , it is too common for us.The beds are very comfortable, room is very spacious and cozy, provide good quality amenities. They have really beautiful garden good for walking and reading books. Beside price, everything is good.
AAnonymous UserVery nice hotel. This business trip was wrong and stayed at this hotel. The facilities, health, environment and service are very satisfied. The foreign waiter's brain is really stupid. I will choose this hotel next time.
