Hotel was booked for my wife and her mother who were visiting friends in Auckland. They found the hotel was deserving of its 5-star rating and
liked it very much.
Breakfast was decent but a bit repetitive, so it would’ve been nice to have some different options on different days. The location was great and really convenient, but cleanliness could definitely be improved — the bathroom and cups weren’t properly cleaned. There’s no on-site hotel parking, and the alternatives were quite expensive. The most cost-effective option was Victoria Street parking, about a 5-minute walk away. The hotel charged $59 per night for Wilson Parking, but it came with limitations, which made things quite difficult. On the plus side, complimentary dental kits were provided, which was a nice touch.
Beautiful room. Amazing service. We landed very early in the morning and were exhausted. The staffs were so nice they allow us early checking around 9AM and upgrade our twin room to an amazing suit. Love it. The location is amazing. Car parking is so convenient. Will come again.
The sea view room has a particularly good view. The hotel's location is also very suitable for one-day tours around the area. The service is also in place. It is recommended.
Thoroughly enjoyed my stay here, the staff made everything a breeze for me. What I appreciated most was the check-in agent offering me a room upgrade with late checkout! This was generous and a welcome surprise. Stayed in a deluxe room on 26th floor with a lovely view of the Sky Tower and harbour. Bar on rooftop is great. My best hotel experience in New Zealand so far. Hotel is missing a pool, and no bathtub in my room. However, it’s great value overall. Thank you team!
I am travelling with family with kids and elderly. The grand is probably the best central location that you can find in Auckland if you are taking public transport. The pickup and dropoff for Skybus to Auckland airport is a 5 min walk away. The surrounding has plenty of restaurants including japanese & Chinese food. Facilities wise it has a gym and a heated swimming pool which the kids enjoy. Room is clean & spacious. Hotel price wise is on a high but weighing all the plus points, I will book it again for all the reasons above.
A great stay as always. Our fav place to stay in Auckland. Lovely staff, great facilities and location. Parking is $40 a night, nice and secure. Vic St car park is cheaper on weekends but not as safe.
The hotel exceeded our expectations in all aspects. Very friendly and professional staff members, from check in to breakfast.
The bed was very comfortable and I was so pleased to have feather pillows! Some bedside lights would be useful. The bathroom was spotless and the body products were very nice.
Big buffet breakfast, great coffee and egg station.
We expected a bed after a long flight, arriving in the middle of the night, we got so much more and will be back
The hotel rooms are large, the kitchen is fully equipped with pots and pans, simple cooking is no problem, the Internet speed is very fast, very suitable for business office people, the TV can cast screen. The only drawback is that the hotel does not clean the room every day, and customers need to contact the front desk themselves.
This hotel was a lovely place for us to rest after our adventures outside Auckland. They greeted us with warm cookies upon check in, and were so sweet and nice throughout our stay. They even let us check out late when we were running behind on the last day.
Breakfast was delicious and had lots of great options. Amenities were clean, modern, and comfortable. The hotel is a bit far from downtown Auckland, which made for quite a bit of driving, but overall was not a huge issue. The hotel was right next to the highway so at least you could hop on and off pretty easily. Overall a comfortable and quiet place for use to relax after long days- we’d stay here again!

AAnonymous UserOverall is fine, but hotel is inflexible in making some changes just due to we booked through trip.com. I bought a room for 2 nights in a separate bookings which the second night come with breakfast while the first night does not. Due to my flight schedule, I request to swap the breakfast to first night and is being rejected. Reason being I booked in separate booking and through agency, they couldn’t do any changes about it.
Well, this reason does not really sound convincing for me, because the breakfast is buffet style, is not a difficulty to add another 2 person in I guess. Yet I am not asking for free, I had paid for it.
GGuest UserArriving at the international airport, we needed to depart the next morning on a domestic flight so opted to stay at the Gateway because it was on the route of the free bus with accommodation. $8 pp if no booking. The Hotel looked shabby from the outside, however was really surprised at how clean and comfortable the rooms were, we also dined in the restaurant, large portion, food, and reasonable prices would definitely stay again.

DDoct MOHSIN ALIDelux room is perfect, staffs are cooperative, decent environment, highly recommended. Positive points pick/drop services are available.
Suggestions: try to check the room as queen room have shower tap issues ,small issues but hopefully solve it; also provide water , spoons in each room. Overall rate 5/5.
GGuest Useramazing place, it was one of the cheapest airport hotels absolutely great clean large rooms with full kitchen, nice private bathroom and nice rooms. the shuttle ran very frequently - absolutely recommend this place over the more expensive ones
GGuest UserGreat location, very clean and comfortable. Love the privacy and standards. The only issue was that is a pain of another hotel and doesn’t have reception desk and you communicate by phone or text, however they are very quick in response. Great value for money!

TThe PinoyWe had an amazing stay here last December, we love the room except for the other part of the bed that sink when laid upon,we didnt use the tv as the remote was not working, they say someone will come up to change it but no one came..overall we still love our stay..
AAnonymous UserThere's no bell boy to assist guest upon arrival and even up to the room. Basically this hotel is ”self-service” hotel. From carrying the luggages upon arrival to the room and out of the room (check out). You have to do it all by yourself by taking the trolley and upload those luggages on to it and bring it to your room. The same applies when you want to check out.
Some of the reception staff are not friendly upon welcoming guest to the hotel. Upon our arrival at around 3pm (NZD time) , the reception staff seems not happy in welcoming us. When we asked them why there's no one to assist us on the luggages (5 luggages), and their response was ”they never assist anyone beyond the double entrance glass door”. We were so suprise with their response
To be fair, there are other staff [the chef, manager and other reception staff that was on night duty (other than the one assisted us upon our arrival)] are very kind and friendly. They are happy to assist us whenever we have issue during our stay and they go beyond their duty by sharing a lot of tourism information which was very useful to us as tourist in Auckland, NZ.
