The breakfast restaurant is gorgeous. The private pool in the pool room was large enough for a proper swim. However, I actually preferred the standard rooms, as they were cleaner and bug-free. The pool rooms felt a bit *too* natural for my liking – with an open-air courtyard bathroom, I was genuinely worried about snakes coming in if I needed to use it late at night. Overall, it was very good. Compared to other accommodations for island hopping in Phuket, it offers excellent value for money, though the sea itself here is quite unremarkable. They also provide a daily resort credit of 1000 THB per room per night, and it was really pleasant to still have almost 200 THB left over daily to spend on drinks and food.

My overall experience was absolutely amazing. From the moment I arrived, every staff member greeted me with warm smiles and genuine enthusiasm. The team went out of their way to make me feel welcome and relaxed, providing great hospitality at every turn. In particular, I have to mention Khun Kath – her kindness, attentiveness, and friendliness truly stood out and made my stay extra special. I always felt like a valued guest thanks to her wonderful service and the positive attitude of the entire team.
My room was perfect in every way: spacious, spotlessly clean, and beautifully appointed. The room had all the amenities I could possibly need. I really appreciated how well the room was maintained and how everything just worked. It was a peaceful space where I could unwind fully after a day of exploring the resort’s activities.
Speaking of activities, everything was very well organized. The resort offered a great range of fun things to do, and each activity was managed smoothly. My morning, the delicious breakfast which had a good variety of hot dishes, fresh fruit, pastries, and more. One small note: the grill restaurant was just average.
The view from this place is amazing, from both the rooms and top part with the pool, restaurants and skywalk.
Stayed in the tent type room which was very comfortable with modern beds and a/c
Had dinner up at the restaurant and it was decent food, but poor service. Breakfast was very, very weak. Probably the worst breakfast I’ve had in a hotel in Thailand in my 20 years of coming here.
Drivers could be called to take you back and forth from room to restaurant/pool, etc. They were very friendly and quick to come after calling the phone number.
View, especially at sunrise was breathtaking, but now that I’ve stayed one, I wouldn’t have a reason to stay again.

Review of the JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort & Spa
This resort is a beautiful 5-star destination that offers a truly relaxing experience, especially when it's not hosting large events. The rooms are fantastic, providing a comfortable and luxurious base for your stay.
The restaurants offer great value, with a wide variety of delicious options to choose from. A slight exception is the steakhouse, which, while good, feels a little overpriced for what it offers.
The resort's swimming pools are a highlight, particularly the stunning adult-only pool, which is perfect for unwinding. The resort's location is a bit isolated, so be prepared for that, but it contributes to the peaceful atmosphere.
The staff is generally excellent, and special mention goes to Khun Bee, who manages the steakhouse. She is incredibly knowledgeable about all the food and beverage options and is a shining star at the resort.
In summary, this is a beautiful and well-appointed resort with top-notch rooms and pools. While the steakhouse could be better value, and the location is a bit secluded, it's a wonderful place to relax—just be aware that large wedding groups can significantly change the atmosphere.

La Flora was the 11th Hotel I stayed at since I left Taiwan on the 23rd July, 2023. And, I absolutely loved it! Our family enjoyed a lovely dinner while the sun was setting. It was wonderful to sit at the beach and have breakfast the next morning. The breakfast was great! We also enjoyed the pools a lot. La Flora is great for families. I will upload a video of La Flora on my YouTube Channel. thatfoodiejeanette
Thank you to everyone at La Flora who made our stay enjoyable.
NB The highlight for me was the 2 Man Band! They just made my evening very special.
Overall is good. We have a very good time here. All facilities and service are good. It seems the manpower not enough in every departments since checking in so many guest are waiting at the lobby and GSA are too busy to handle. After finish there’s only 1 bellman to take care of everyone to escort guest to the room by buggy but the luggages will come later. The luggages come so late we go to the beach 10-20 mins and come back to the room and found that the luggage are in front of our room (what?). We have a good time the party at the beach in the evening. During breakfast, also not enough glasses and some delayed food but staffs are great.
This is a very cost-effective resort. The infinity pool by the sea is beautiful👍 It feels 80 meters long and is the first choice for swimming enthusiasts. The breakfast is rich and delicious, the dinner is delicious and inexpensive, the single-family original thatched wooden house is very impressive, and the sunrise every morning🌅 is so beautiful! Tranquility and far-reaching ~

Our first time to Avani+. We were surprised by the location and amenities of the hotel. The location is by the main road. It is convenient for guests to cross the road to the supermarket to get snacks or drinks.
Amenities wise are excellent for kids and adults. There are plenty of activities for guests to do, such as rock climbing, arcade, basketball, and skateboard .
However, I just feel the pools available are too small. It is low season in khao lak and I already feel it is too crowded.
Cleanliness in the room could be improved. The housekeeping only sweeps the floor and does not use a vacuum. After cleaning our rooms, I saw hair in the toilet.
Overall, I would recommend Avani+ to family traveling with children.

This is my first time staying here with my family. I felt that this was the most memorable vacation. All the staff were lovely, smiling and cheerful, and provided good service. The bellboys were lovely, and the head chef provided excellent service as well. Joy, the housekeeping team, took very good care of us, and Tu talked with us throughout our meal. I felt that this was an accommodation where the staff took amazing care of their customers. We will definitely come back.

ออริสรา แก้วประเสริฐHotel Gal is new and very clean. There is an elevator. It is near 7-Eleven. The big bed is very comfortable. The bathroom is very large. The shower is strong. I like it very much. If you choose a room without windows, there will be no sunlight to disturb your sleep. It is suitable for people who are sensitive to light. The decoration is beautiful, wooden but modern. The breakfast is delicious. The saltwater pool is small but not crowded. The staff is cute and recommends good tourist attractions. They also help to contact for renting a motorbike. Thank you. I recommend staying here. It is convenient to travel.
LLily in wonderlandMy family and I just stayed at the JW Marriott in Khao Lak and had a fantastic experience! The rooms were spacious, with big, comfy beds and natural product toiletries. Every morning, the breakfast spread was delicious and varied, featuring freshly squeezed juices and authentic Thai coffee made with high-quality ingredients. The kid's area offered daily activities, and bike rentals were easy; I highly recommend biking around the beautiful gardens. The service was friendly, efficient, and attentive. The pool area was impressive—it's the biggest pool I've seen at any property! Plus, direct beach access was a wonderful bonus. If I return to Khao Lak, I would definitely stay here again with my family!
PPaul_HKBeautiful location and hotel grounds are absolutely stunning. On the surface the rooms look good but they are a bit dated with some impractical features and water was dripping from the AC vent. The toilet is semi private which is a bit strange - it sort of connects with the shower area which is not ideal when you are with your partner. Also there are no wardrobe doors even though the shower area is right next to it.
The staff are generally nice and friendly but service is very average for a hotel of this nature compared to other boutique hotels, with staff constantly forgetting things from food or drinks orders at the restaurant.
Flexibility of breakfast was fantastic though and in general the food was excellent. Encountered some issues with room service on our first evening which were resolved promptly the following day.
End of stay was disappointing - we appreciated the hotel were able to extend our check-out by 2 hours to 2pm (and able to use a shower room to get changed later in the day), but they made it abundantly clear that if we wanted the room to 7pm then we would have to pay for another half-day occupancy even though the hotel was definitely not full. If the hotel was at full capacity, we would have completely understood the situation. It all felt a bit ‘budget’ from a 5 star hotel.
To make matters worse, during a rainy and cool afternoon, we ended up killing time on sun-beds on the beach before we could use the their shower room. The bizarre thing was that the shower room turned out to be a different guest room identical to the one we had been staying in. Surely it would have been easier to let us stay in our original room for a few extra hours, it would also have saved the hotel from having to clean two rooms.
Given that we had arrived very late on the first night, it was not like we were trying to take advantage of them and maximise our stay - we were just killing time ahead of our evening flight. It was all quite a weird end and so not sure we’d go back or recommend this hotel even though the setting is incredibly beautiful.
There is a lot of communication provided about the ethos of excellent hospitality while staying in the hotel. This specific action and policy seemed in opposition to these communicated values.

CChayadaDuring our stay, we noticed a few service issues that we’d like to share for your improvement. For example, the receptionist is usually the first impression of any hotel. As Thai guests, we naturally expect polite and respectful communication, especially the consistent use of “krab” when speaking. However, the receptionist only said “krab” once, at the very end of the conversation. It felt unusual, and we weren’t even sure if he was Thai. This small detail made the interaction feel less warm and professional than expected.
Another issue we experienced was with the à la carte dining. We placed our order and waited for 40 minutes without any update or communication from the staff. When we finally asked about the delay, we were told we’d have to wait another 30 minutes. Only after that did the staff consult with the manager and offer us some food from the buffet, but at that point, it was already quite late and there weren’t many other dining options nearby. Ms. Bowy, the Restaurant Manager, kindly offered us a cocktail or some drinks, but what we really needed was food. She later offered a 20% discount for that meal, which we appreciated, but the whole experience was disappointing.
Lastly, during breakfast, we understand it was a long weekend and the hotel was likely busy. However, since occupancy can be anticipated, we believe better preparation could have been made—both in terms of staffing and seating arrangements. When we mentioned the crowd and the wait for a table, the staff simply said, “You should come earlier for breakfast,” which didn’t feel like a very helpful response.
We truly enjoyed the atmosphere and setting of the property, but we hope these comments help in improving the overall service experience for future guests.
RRaven Kien DoriaWe had a truly fantastic stay at this hotel! From the moment we arrived, everything was smooth and enjoyable. The breakfast was delicious with a good variety of options to start the day right, and the amenities were absolutely fantastic, we had everything we needed and more. A special thanks to K. Snow at the front desk for going above and beyond during our check-in. Even though our booking wasn’t yet in the system, she made sure everything was arranged quickly and smoothly, allowing us to check in early without any hassle. Her professionalism and kindness really stood out. We also want to give a big shout out to K. Nat from the recreation team. She made sure we had a great time during the activities, always cheering us on during bowling and checking in on us while we played badminton to ensure we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. Every time we passed by someone, they greeted us with a smile, which made us feel truly valued and at home. I will definitely be coming back to this hotel on my next holiday. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable and relaxing stay!
PPlum31Our stay at Merlin Khao Lak was pretty great. We had a week there, and sincerely enjoyed the feeling of staying in a contained and nicely taken care of rain forest by the beach.
The location was nearly perfect, but the beach itself wasn't very swimmable (beginning of rain season, to be fair). Fortunately, there were other beaches on the same coast that were nicer during the same time of year, so we did get time in the sea water. Even without sea swimming, the ambience from the waves and the sunsets made the beach plenty nice for us at Merlin. There is also a variety of nicepy kept pools to enjoy, though I typically don't enjoy pools personally.
Service/food were both nice as well. The staff was pleasant enough, but it did feel weird that an ecologically minded resort had the least meat/dairy alternatives of any of the several resorts/hotels we stayed at. I found ordering curries with no seafood or meat simple though, and they were mostly still good. The massaman curry was a miss, but everything else I tried was quite good for resort food!
We really loved the touch of the room's default tv channel being an info channel about the resort's wildlife and maintenance. That, plus the several info booklets allowed us to have a more guided and knowledgeable experience while sightseeing on the exceptional grounds. It was really fun running into others who were also just having a look around and waiting to see a different animal pop up.
We enjoyed our stay. Next time we'd likely come back, while also spending some time up the coast a bit.
