An amazing perfect stay with a disappointment experience because of one Front Office Staff ”Chi*ra Bu**her”.
If you would like to visit Engelberg, I would really recommend this hotel, the only thing about this hotel is it is not so flexible with some rules and services.
INCIDENT!
We only stayed for one night in this beautiful hotel, we reached out the FO for late check out, and we paid 90CHF for the late check out (3:00PM) because we went for a ski and we'll be back later.
When we arrived around 3:15PM to the hotel, and would like to extend it little bit because we would like to clean our selves and pass by one of the spot.
I asked one of the FO and asked them if the late check out consist of until what late, the one guy responded that it is 18:00- To be honest someone from a HORECA, I know as well that usually when you pay for a late check out, it is until late afternoon.
But this Front Office Staff ”Chi*ra Bu**her butt in and says the 90 CHF that we pay is only for until 3:00 PM. Thats it! Because before everything as well the guy informed us that every hour of extend should be 10CFH I respect this.
Now we asked again so the 90 CHF that we paid is for how many hours. She just said 30CHF per hour. (I hope you know better how to explain things as a professional FO I expected alot as SWISS is really known for best hotel school.) Usually in my knowledge late check out is calculated based on the 50% of your hotel price but yeah maybe it is wrong what I know but I cannot accept how she did it. Not professional.
Was planning already to go back here every year before the day of our check out before the incident but yeah for now change of plan.
We had booked 2 nights and arrived in the evening. The cable car and the cog railway end right in front of the reception. In the evening there was a wonderful 4-course menu that you can put together as an option. We were given excellent advice on the choice of drinks. We were seated and had another table the next night. We were lucky with the weather and were able to enjoy the sunrise from the bed. The breakfast is a buffet with everything your heart desires. We were given a valley and a mountain ride from the hotel. We came within 5 m of the ibex. The sunset is just spectacular from the highest point. The stay on the Pilatus is also an unforgettable experience thanks to the ”imperial weather” and the many photos.
The most satisfactory hotel in Switzerland, Engelberg is my favorite town. Next time I come, I will go straight to this hotel. It is very comfortable to walk around the town and climb the mountains. I booked dinner, which was very exquisite. Softbank was included. There was someone playing the piano in the restaurant every night.
The room is about 7 minutes walk from Engelberg Railway Station. The hotel is located halfway up the mountain and has about 120 meters uphill. The room decoration is quite satisfactory, not new or old. There is no problem with hygiene. A kettle can be provided, praise. There are no scrambled eggs and beans for breakfast, and there are bread juice milk. In short, because the town of Engelberg is too beautiful, this price is definitely a great value for a night here.
The hotel is located just opposite the train station with (ski) bus stop. Luckily the hotel has sound proof windows.
Very stylish renovated hotel, keeping the old heritage. The room was small but comfy with nice view.
The hotel parking is 15.- per night, what is okay.
The management has chosen to implement 2G rule (German shortening for vaccinated/recovered), although according Federal Covid-19 ordinance, this only applies for hotel’s restaurant/bar. This should be more clear stated on the booking site.

I want a place where there are few people in the country. Quiet. A place to go for a holiday, this hotel is right. I stayed with my children for five days and I was not bored. The breakfast is especially rich and the skiing is great.
We temporarily decided to stay in Engelberg for one night and another weekend, so the entire hotel in Engelberg can be booked and the price is higher. After the check-in, the room was quite big, but the equipment was very simple, probably the same as the domestic 168, there is a small balcony. The hotel has a good breakfast, the hotel has a good location, and a new hotel is built next to it. The car park is right behind the hotel.

GGuest UserBrand new settings inside the room. Impressed by opening the room door, checking out using Berg and Berg mobile app directly
Equipped with induction stove. If the room is equipped with freezer and microwave/ conventional oven, it will be fantastic.

GGuest UserWe had an amazing stay at Verena’s. She welcomes you with open arms in her beautiful place which is newly renovated. Modern interior with some original elements kept. The bed is a 5 star experience with extremely comfortable mattress, pillows and duvet. Incredible view of the lake. You have house slippers and bath robes in every room. Verena went above and beyond to include a customized breakfast for everyone’s wants and allergies. I felt home with Verena and can’t wait to go back. Thank you Verena.
