This year we are very excited to put on the best Celtic Music Festival ever! We are back at Highlander Park. We encourage our loyal supporters and new friends to come out and experience what true Celtic fun looks like. What a line-up we have this year: ***Based in the Eastern US, Celtic duo Jesse and Kevin are an unprecedented combination of world-class talent in Scottish and Irish traditional music. Jesse Ofgang's expertise and years of intense training on the great highland pipes, border pipes and uilleann pipes are the perfect compliment to Kevin Elam's enchanting ballads and inventive accompaniment on the guitar, bouzouki and harmonium. ***Mec Lir, well-known for their tight, lightning-fast playing and huge sound, fusing Celtic trad with unapologetically electro synths and drums – yet all the while with the fiddle melody at the forefront – the Isle of Man/Glasgow band have brought their infectiously joyous energy to stages in many corners of the folk sphere. ***The Devils Brigade. Drawing favourable comparisons to Wolfstone, Afro Celt Sound System, and Trans-Siberian Orchestra and consistently providing performances from Grade 1 bagpipers and other world class musicians this high-energy Canadian/American group has electrified audiences on three continents for years. ***Plus of course our own local bands and Pipe Bands and wonderful Isle of Sky Dancers. This is promising to be one of the best Celtic Festivals ever!! The Dunedin Scottish Arts Foundation is a non-profit organization that raises money to support the Scottish Arts programs in Dunedin. These include Highland Dancing, Middle School and High School Pipe Band programs, and of course the City of Dunedin Pipe Band. Supporting our education programs is more important than ever and your donations will go a long way. There has been a lot of challenges in the past couple of years, but our support of the Celtic Arts is unwavering. At the same time, if you may be in a position to help beyond your ticket price, please consider making a donation to the Dunedin Scottish Arts Foundation. We are a non-profit organization where every penny we make goes back into the Scottish Arts community in our area. We hope to see many of you at our Celtic Festival Music Festival, on Saturday, November 22, 2025 and at our Highland Games on April 11th 2026 next year. Thank you for your continued friendship and support. Earlybird tickets $20 Children 12 and under free. Proof of age required. Our Bands! PRIZE PAPERS PROJECT This event is run in partnership with Dr. Silke Bakenhus, who leads the project QuaSU (Quellenarbeit im Sachunterricht/working with historical sources in primary school) and works at Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg, Faculty I Department of Education and Social Sciences, in the Department of Primary Education and Social Studies. As part of the Prize Papers Project collaborative network, QuaSU explores how historical sources—such as letters and logbooks—can be used in primary education, developing age-appropriate learning tasks and teaching materials to introduce children to historical topics. Prize Papers Project: https://www.prizepapers.de Homepage QuaSU: https://uol.de/en/quasu Homepage SB (english): https://uol.de/en/silke-bakenhus The Prize Papers Project is an international, collaborative project based at the Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg and The National Archives, UK, directed by the historian Prof. Dr. Dagmar Freist and her research team. The project, which runs for 20 years, is financed by the Union of the German Academies of Sciences and Humanities, and it is attached to the Academy of Lower Saxony in Göttingen. It aims to catalogue, preserve and digitise the Prize Papers collection, held at TNA. The collection contains letters, ship's logs and personal belongings of global origin, seized by the English and later British Navy between 1652 and 1815 during the legal practice of prize-taking as well as the subsequent court proceedings at the High Court of Admiralty. This extensive collection of sources offers extraordinary insights into the daily lives, global connections, colonial entanglements and confrontations of the early modern world. Cultural Experiences
Come Away is a retreat for both women and men. Intentionally small with room for up to eight participants, this retreat is designed to enable you to find sacred space for rest and reflection, renewal and restoration. You will be guided into silence over 4 days and 3 nights. Invited to experience the still, small voice of God loving you. Two private spiritual direction sessions are included. Cathy will be facilitating this journey of deep, profound silence. A word from Cathy…..’my first silent retreat was 23 years ago…It was a gift I wasn’t sure I wanted. Someone paid for me to go and so I went. I was tentative. Unsure. Not used to this degree of stillness and silence and there was a degree of fear and apprehension. What happened for me during those 3 days became some of the most profound treasure I am still gleaning from today. To open myself up to the Presence of Love in such vulnerable stillness was life-changing and has fueled my passion in leading retreats for the past 16 years as I want to share this experience with others. Date : Nov. 20 - 23, 2025 Times : 6:00 pm Thursday eve to 12:00, noon on Sunday Cost : $475 + GST. This includes retreat facilitation, Eventbrite fees, and dinners on Friday and Saturday night. Please note that this does not include the accommodation and some meals . Retreatants will need to provide their own breakfasts, lunches and snacks. Each of the rooms at the Mark Centre has the small fridge, coffee maker, kettle, and a few kitchen utensils. Once you have booked and paid for the retreat, you can Contact the Mark Centre (www.markcentre.org) to pay for your accommodation. The Mark Centre is offering a pay-what-you-can plan.
