Dinner buffet I am full of expectations, don't have too much expectations, the location is not good, you can travel by car, there is no store nearby, and it is difficult to recognize the road in heavy snow. The best thing is that the network is very poor, 4G has 1 grid, the Internet is difficult, WIFI is as weak, and the line is often disconnected. You can feel the air of nature wholeheartedly, the hot springs are good for hygiene, and the bath products used are also very good. There is a ski supplies store next to it, if you don't have equipment, you can rent it, and the ski resort is next to it, which is also very convenient.
Hotel room was good and massive, facilities are abundant as well. The onsen is super spacious and it's thru the night.
Food selection are quite a few but do try to get to Eki for more selections... Just take note of the last shuttle bus back to hotel.
In all the stay was good, just need to take note that this hotel is only allow SKI in / SKI out... But NOT SNOWBOARDING.... That you have to take shuttle bus to other resort location thru its skiing shuttle bus services...
The hotel is right at the entrance of the ski resort and you can Ski in/Out. Guests of the hotel in Figure 3 can get a discount on the ski pass price. Our price for three days was 25,400 yen. There are very few people in the ski resort unless there is heavy snowfall. Very few people. There are several restaurants in the hotel, and you need to make a reservation for dinner in the evening. The taste is good. There are ski lockers on the first floor for free. Friendly advice, try to bring your own shoes and boards. The shoes rented by the ski resort are very loose and the boards are heavy and hard.
1. There’s pickup and dropoff for Echigo stn
2. No shoes allowed beyond the hotel entrance
3. Front desk have a local Japanese staff that can speak English. Pretend to be nice not. Anything else , he will tell you don’t know. Go find yourself. Besides selling tickets that he will earn money. You’ll get no information from him
4. 1st day check-in, my in room hot spring tub is slimy n dirty stained wil algae. I scrub a lot out and took video. Same Japanese man came and nothing. Till I show him the algae I’ve scrub and the video, he kept quiet. Housekeeping do scrub off within 30mins
5. Breakfast is same everyday
6. Dinner, slight changes but still 99% same.
7. Child meal is hopeless.
Stayed for 5nights, same meals daily.
8. Want to bring a cake to dinner to celebrate my Daughters Birthday, we were forbidden to do so. Nothing besides what they bring to you.
9. Onsen was good
10. Basic ice cream treats.
11. Simple ramen in the evening
Hotel is too rigid. It’s really expensive during our visits. The rules at dining and the same meals daily, it’s unbearable. Kids have nothing much to eat
For the price, I’ll not stay in this rigid property. Many other Ryokan resort for lesser price and better options. It’s not ski in ski out and yet price are too high.
Very nice place to stay! Quiet during the spring/summer period due to the area being more popular in winter. Very near Echigo Yuzawa Station within 5min walk. Was welcomed into the hotel nicely with complimentary matcha and snack. Upon check in there was even a cute Gachapon game in which you could win one of their special Niigata/Yuzawa stuff! I won a small pack of Niigata rice.
Room was clean and spacious with a comfy futon bed. The public baths were so nice and well maintained! The staff here are very friendly and attentive. If you did not reserve their special dinner/breakfast set, you can still do say with 2 days advanced order over the front desk. I also love that they provide free shuttle to the station at check out upon request! Definitely staying here again if ever back in the area 🫶🏼
#汤泽gala #越后汤沢 #汤泽gala #日式風浴 #滑滑 Oyujuku Nakaya, a traditional Japanese hot spring hotel, has courteous waiters and a 24-hour front desk. Even if you return to the hotel very late, there will be staff to greet you. They will try their best to arrange some requests, which is very humane. Although the hotel is a bit old, it is well-equipped, neat and clean, and the indoor and outdoor baths are also very comfortable. It is only a 10-minute walk to nearby restaurants. If you take the hotel's special car, it only takes 5 minutes to get to Gala Ski Resort or Echigo Yuzawa Station!
Staff service is very good, very professional.
Ski rentals are available at the hotel, which is cheaper than ski resorts and other ski resorts.
Ski tickets at the hotel are also available at discounts.
There is also a special car transfer, when you see everyone waiting for the bus in a long queue, your special car is already waiting for you at the door, when it snows, feel warm.
It is only a 5-minute walk to Yuehou Tangyu Station and 7-11.
Property is set in a very quiet and peaceful environment. Very clean and modern. Well maintained after its renovation. There are plenty of free parking space.
Room is big but unfortunately without shower/bath - a big negative for the property. There are two common showers for the whole hotel which must be busy during peak seasons. I recommend the hotel especially during off peak season when you can use the public showers. Otherwise you have to use the bathing facilities in the onsen.
、 I was able to enter the hot springs comfortably and slowly at the cleaning inn ♪ Blanc with breakfast 、 My friends were also very satisfied with the menu. And they were all delicious. It was helpful to tell me that the front desk and 、 parking lot were 、 easy to talk to everyone 、 kindly color 々. It was an inn I wanted to visit again. thank you for your help.
Service attitude is very good
But it was too old and noisy. The ventilation system kept making noises of parts falling off for more than 10 hours. So I chose a room with a bathroom and toilet. I wanted convenience, but I didn't expect that it would be inconvenient to take a bath. The bathtub was too small and there was bleach in the water. The smell, and the water in the bathtub is still completely wet even if there is a shower curtain blocking the floor. It is very uncomfortable. The wind power of the hair dryer is close to zero. It is recommended to bring your own hair dryer, otherwise it will really collapse. The hotel may be too old. I really don’t recommend it if you want to enjoy skiing. This hotel has been in a state of collapse. I stayed there for four nights and it was really uncomfortable. Then when the room was cleaned, the floor was not vacuumed. The room was really dirty and the slippers were rusty in it... In short, I will not come again! ! !
Really ruined a good ski trip

DDAThe hotel is located on the wrong side, nearly 80 kilometers away from Liangjin Wharf, and 1 hour by bus. It is dark from the starting point to the terminal station. The hotel does not provide pick-up and check-in. I walked about 3 kilometers in the dark with my luggage. No street lights. The worthy thing is that the environment is beautiful and there are basically no tourists. There are no special features and attractions.

SSilverGeckoThis is our 3rd week of 4 weeks exploring Japan and so far Yuzawa Grand is the best Ryokan Onsen experience we have had. We could have spent several days there it was sublime. We arrived in the morning and the staff were extremely welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable. We had been told by the tourist centre at the train station that the gondola wasn’t operational for 3 days; however the Yuzawa Receptionist assured us that it was operating and showed us that they were even able to sell us tickets at a discount. She gave us a map and bus timetable, showing us where everything was. They stored our backpacks for us and off we went exploring and had a marvellous time. We soaked our feet in the foot baths while having a treat before catching the bus to the mountains. We came back to our gorgeous room which had a coffee pod machine in it. Was so nice having a coffee in the morning looking out the window. We enjoyed relaxing in the beautiful Onsens before dinner. The buffet at both dinner and breakfast was incredible, everything so beautifully presented and incredibly delicious.
Highly recommend this gorgeous hotel. The staff are fantastic and the ambiance very peaceful.
GGuest UserThe hotel is atmosphere with a nice blend of the old and new. It is located not too far from Uonuma no Sato and have a complimentary shuttle service to and fro Hatago Isen opposite Echigo Yuzawa Station. The room is big and there is nice heated table area. The bathroom is nice but as with traditional lodgings such as this, it can be pretty cold especially at the bathroom area in winter.
Dinner was served in a bento format at our room. I was a little disappointed that it is a not a proper sit-down meal at the main dining area instead. The bento includes two generously sized onigiri, appetizers, and four main items including a meat patty, grilled fish and braised wagyu.
The onsen bath is also quite nice and loved the bath with the snowy landscaped garden.
Service is generally good and there are snacks and drinks available at the lounge for guests. In the evening, there is also sake and umeshu available for guests.

KKoo MYIs a PERFECT get away for family and friends. Excellence value for money package with great dinner menus and setting. Room is spacious and functional. Beautiful outdoor onsen. Near all the famous skiing area. The only set back is the usage of lobby at nite, on the 16/1/25 we are allowed to use till 12am. Yet on the 17/1/25 night, the front office staff come over our sitting area and turn of the light despite is only ard 10pm and he is aware we are chit chatting and having a drink there... This really surprise everyone.
The rest of the hotel staff is friendly and approachable. Except the guys working on night shift 17/1/25, I assume in the front office,.
GGuest UserHighly recommended. A very historic hot spring hotel, a little far from Yuzawa Station. The hotel has a shuttle bus, which usually leaves on the hour and arrives at 8pm at the latest. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to call them. The old man at the front desk speaks good English, and there is also a guy who speaks Chinese. In the evening, put on the hotel's yukata and go to the hot spring. The hot spring is open from afternoon to evening. After the bath, there is a lounge with two flavors of popsicles, facial masks, and table tennis🏓.
AAnonymous UserHotel has good heating so perfect for winter stay. Nice fireplace area and nice holding area before stepping out into the cold. The hotel is down a hill from the main thoroughfare. A bit slippery downhill when it becomes icy. Run like a hotel so maybe a bit cold compared to a bed and breakfast. Onsen bath seems a bit dirty with things floating in there compared to other hotels we stayed at. We needed to move to another hotel which is 2km away and the guy offered to drive us there for 2000 yen! Just 1 luggage each and no skis. So on the whole just cold. Breakfast was 1000 yen seemed simple so we skipped and opted to eat in town instead. Probably won't stay there again.
GGuest UserWe stayed in a shiny new room after renovation. The newly renovated room we stayed in was not ready for a bathtub, so we only had a shower in the room. They were kind enough to offer us the outdoor bath, which is usually paid for, for free, so we went to the outdoor bath ♨️
However, the building for the paid outdoor bath was about 100 meters away from the hotel itself, and the system involved moving around outside without a roof in room slippers and a yukata. It was a blizzard outside that day, and the snow was sticky under our feet... It was dark outside, and we were given a small lantern, so we walked in the dark, into the snow. On the way to the outdoor bath in the rain... my slippers suddenly got stuck in the cold mud and both my feet were soaked 😱 cold 🥶
The outdoor bath itself was a beautifully constructed bath ♨️ built in a separate location, with a spectacular view below, but on the way back, of course, both my room slippers and feet got stuck in the cold, snow-covered mud and sand, and they were squishy, squishy, icy 🥶 and rattling :(;゙゚'ω゚'): I immediately went into the large public bath in the main hotel building to warm up my cold body again.
I think it's a building built 100 meters away from the main hotel building, with the outdoor bath as the priority, with a view in mind, so I felt it would be more valuable to make it possible to move there safely and comfortably.
For example,
renting out rain boots on rainy or snowy days...
installing footlights to guide the way to the open-air bath♨️ building...
I think information about the special open-air bath♨️ (for a fee)
is a must.
It's a real shame considering it's such a great facility.
