Wonderful place for a weekend getaway! Shangri-la was the perfect option for a weekend of sun, beach, and nice memories with my family - my kid just loved the pool area! Very comfortable room, an excellent breakfast with lots of options at Tides restaurant - try to avoid having breakfast around 08:45 - 09:15 am, we had to wait for 15-20 minutes to be seated. The Italian restaurant Acqua is a great option - the tagliatelle alle vongole was superb! We hope to come back soon!
This was one of the finest trips I have ever experienced, and I would eagerly return to the Philippines solely to stay at this resort. While there were some initial issues with bugs, the staff responded promptly and demonstrated exceptional kindness, significantly enhancing my overall satisfaction. However, the problem-solving procedures could benefit from greater professionalism, akin to what is found in high-end hotels. Overall, the experience was truly outstanding.
Amazing location right next to the beach, spacious balcony (with a line to hang wet clothes) overlooking beach on either west or east side. Friendly staff and nice breakfast. No WiFi in the room available though, have to go reception area for WiFi. The room is clean but I did find two cockroaches (one of those damaged the O-rings on my diving flashlight when it was drying overnight) and there were ants on the balcony and bathroom too. There was no big bucket to soak swimming/diving equipment that many other hotels provide, you can use the ones at dive shops but I would prefer if there was bucket big enough to put camera/computer/mask/clothes etc in and soak it in warm water for an hour. Overall it's good value for the price.

We just returned home from Crimson Resort and Spa Mactan. It was our first time in Cebu. It was a short but great trip.
The highlights:
Accommodations: We chose Crimson because we frequent high-rise hotels when traveling and decided this time we wanted a villa/bungalow type of room. No hallways and no elevators. Crimson checked those boxes. They also accommodated our requests for a king bed and first floor room.
Activities and amenities: Our daughter loved Crimzone and the children’s pool. It was hard to get her to leave. The Saturday foam party was fun and the pool staff were engaging. My wife and I both availed the spa and wow, we can see why they won an award for Best Value in Asia. The price was affordable while the quality of service was top-notch.
Food: The buffet breakfast was good and had a lot of variety. My favorite item was the fruit and veggie smoothies. Who knew bakchoy and mango blend well together? But it was the attentive staff that really made breakfast a great experience. We tried the 24-hour room service and I swear the chicken club sandwich was one of the best I’ve had in my entire life 5/5!
The lowlights:
Here are some reasons why we are not giving Crimson an excellent review.
1. Overpriced/low quality food in Saffron during ala carte dinner. Our first night we arrived in the evening and were hungry. For two people (our daughter is a toddler) we paid over 5000php for an appetizer, 3 entrees, one beer and one bottle of water. Honestly, the price would be ok for this amount of food if the quality was better. I would suggest Aka or Enye for higher quality food although we didn’t try either. Saffron was empty that night and we found out why.
2. Distance to places/sites. Crimson is quite far for shopping or eating at other restaurants. We hired a private car for 3 hours and was only able to visit two sites and one pasalubong store. Luckily it was only moderate traffic on that Saturday. 2500php for a sedan for 3 hours was reasonable.
3. The gift shop is waaaay overpriced. 950php for a small tube of sunblock seemed very high even at a resort. We also wanted some souvenirs, but there wasn’t much variety at all.
4. Our room needed some TLC. The paint in the nice tub was chipping, the caulking in the showers could use a refresh and there was a huge ipis (roach) in the closet. Luckily we spent most of the time outside the room.
5. No floaties or life vests for toddlers to use, even for rental. Despite having almost everything else, this would have been a nice touch.
6. We came to Cebu for mangoes and lechon, but Crimson didn’t offer these items and again, because of distance, it would have been nice to have some at the hotel.
The bottom line:
We enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it to others, however we would give them our full review so they are aware of the pros and cons.
Thank you to the wonderful staff that made up for the minor issues we encountered!

We stayed at Bluewater Maribago as a family with two little boys (2 years and 2 months, and 5 months old), right after a long journey from Germany—and it was exactly what we needed. We originally booked 3 nights but extended to 4 because it was just the perfect place to adjust to the climate and recover.
The resort is beautiful, well-maintained, and incredibly family-friendly. The pools were a big hit with the kids, and while we didn’t swim much at the beach, our toddler spent hours happily playing in the sand. That kind of distraction made everything easier for us as parents.
The food was outstanding—we had the breakfast and dinner buffet daily at Allegro Restaurant and loved the variety and quality. But what really made this stay special was the staff. The resort’s core value, Amuma (a Bisaya word meaning to pamper or care), isn’t just a slogan—it’s something you feel in every interaction.
Big thanks to Joyce and the welcoming team at the Allegro entrance, Jeff and Richell from the juice bar who took great care of us in the afternoons, and especially Carlos at the kinilaw buffet, who we saw more than once step through a potted plant (literally) to help guests at the nearby self-service station. That kind of extra effort and warmth was everywhere.
If you’re arriving in Cebu with kids—or just need a peaceful, genuine place to land—this is it. We left feeling refreshed, grateful, and truly cared for.

It was one of the best family get away, we love the place. It's safe to go on swimming because it's like a pool but the water is seawater. They're good is good well they have more than 2 restaurants open to choose depends on your choice. The place is clean and sooo relaxing and you can also ride bicycles it's for free for an hour, and games centers and a lot. If you like to drink they also have a place for that. We really like it there and we're planning to visit the place again with the whole family soon. I recommend this place for those who seek calmness in life hehe,
We arrived around 5 PM and noticed that some of the staff members were preparing to leave for the day. One staff member kindly guided us through the hallways and directed us to our room. The room itself was lovely, but unfortunately, the main reason we chose this resort—its late-night swimming and Netflix access—was not fully realized. We discovered that Netflix was unavailable due to a payment issue, which was quite disappointing. We attempted to use YouTube, but found the available content unengaging, so we ended up going to bed early without our planned movie night.
On a positive note, we had breakfast at the resort's restaurant and were impressed by the excellent service, which was truly five-star. While the food was average for me, particularly given my pregnancy, it was satisfying and ensured that I left feeling full.

We stayed two nights here before continuing our journey. The stay was very pleasant. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was delicious, as were the lunches and dinners. The service was very good in all areas: the front desk, the pool, the restaurants and the cleaning service. We would stay there again.
The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the quilt was thick enough. The couple had a story to tell. They always put the customers first and provided nanny-like service. They helped us a lot in the past two days, took us to the weekend market, and cooked delicious meals for us. Their seawater hot spring golden soup was very comfortable and good stuff. If you want to eat, you need to inform them in advance, and they will buy fresh soup and cook it on the same day.
friendly staffs, very accomodating.. I love to recommend this place for your stay.. me and my son really had a great time..
