The hotel was clean and beautifully decorated with local art. The bed was very comfortable. The residents lounge was a great place to sit and relax. The breakfast was very good with a great choice. I also at and had a drink on the Bothy bar which was excellent. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again.

beautiful, location, excellent food, overall a superb hotel. Julie, the owner was so helpful on our arrival and certainly went the extra mile to make our stay as comfortable as possible.

The front of house couldn’t have been more helpful or friendly. The room was very clean and comfortable. However, when I am on holiday I don’t like to be told exactly when I am to have breakfast. 8.15 is not a relaxing start to the day. Perhaps 8.45 or 9.00. I would have liked to have plain yoghurt, not over sweetened fruit flavoured yoghurts. The breakfast, apart from the egg, had been prepared in advance. The bread was supermarket white and the brown ran out. There was a croissant in a plastic packet. Though there were fresh strawberries and blueberries - much appreciated. The Bothy, despite being right on the sea, didn’t have any lovely fresh local seafood, which I had hoped for. The helpings were enormous. I did go out to a very good restaurant for my second night.

This was a last minute booking as we had been let down by another hotel in the area. Julie went out of her way to help us and was able to accommodate us in a beautiful, comfortable suite overlooking the Loch. She was on hand to make suggestions for visits in the local area; we particularly enjoyed the Garbh Eilean wildlife hide and were lucky enough to see Otters from there, along with Seals and Oystercatchers. We ate at the Bothy on both nights and the food was delicious, especially the haggis olive and the venison goulash. We were well looked after by Michelle and Ali. Thank you, we will be back.

I had an 3 day stay in this hotel. Julie, the owner could not have done more for her guests, she is an excellent hostess. The hotel is comfortable and warm. The food was very good and plentiful. I would recommend anyone travelling to this part of Scotland to make this their destination whether for an overnight stop or for longer.

The Strontian hotel is in a lovely position overlooking Loch Sunart and just a short walk to the village centre. There is plenty of parking and check-in was welcoming. Our room (no 6) has views of the loch and is a good size, nicely decorated, and comfortable. The en-suite is also roomy and comes equipped with toiletries and nice big towels. There is a cosy and comfortable residents’ lounge downstairs and an attached bar and restaurant called the Bothy. I’m not normally a fan of hotel bars but as expected, this one is like a local pub. I based this expectation on my upbringing in rural Lanarkshire and working in a remote, Country House Hotel, where I found out that in areas with limited facilities, any bar will be treated as a local. Bar meals are served in a pleasant conservatory style room and we enjoyed some excellent fish and chips for supper. Breakfast is served in the main hotel dining room and from the usual array of cold starters we enjoyed juice, fresh fruits and yogurt. Our choice of cooked breakfast included “square” sausage (aka Lorne sausage), which was a bit of a treat as for some strange reason, although Lorne sausage is an iconic Scottish food, most hotels and B&Bs don’t serve it. We also enjoyed tattie scone, haggis, black pudding and thick-cut bacon with eggs, mushrooms and tomato. The word “substantial” is clearly most apt here and it certainly set us up for the day. The Ardnamurchan peninsula along with neighbouring Morvern and Argour is off the main tourist track and has a lovely, almost remote feel,to it. It’s a great area to explore and the Strontian Hotel makes an ideal base. Julie is a perfect host and it will certainly be our hotel of choice on future visits.

Fantastic 3 night stay with beautiful views up Loch Sunart. It is no surprise that Julie is mentioned in a number of reviews below. She couldn't have been more welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. By the way, please ignore the 1* review below. Debbie, the bar manager next door, couldn't have been nicer. We will definitely be back.

We stayed 2 nights in this beautifully located hotel, on our first evening enjoying a glass of wine sat on the benches at the front, looking out over the loch as the warm sun set; glorious! The owner booked us in and helpfully immediately made up the 2nd bed in our room, as we prefer twin beds; she is clearly a can-do hands-on kinda person! We had supper in the hotel restaurant that evening, and the next day enjoyed a beautiful ride to Ardnamurchan point on our motorcycles, again in gorgeous warm autumn sunshine. The hotel as a very stylish breakfast room, and a smart lounge. Biker friendly. Good wi-fi. Recommended.
