Sunspot Hotel

Unfortunately Ethiopian Airlines booked me into this hotel on a layover. It is literally the worst hotel I can ever recall staying at. There was no hot water in the shower. They tried to fix this but were unable to. The WiFi does not work in any of the rooms - the signal is too weak. The food is absolutely terrible and looks like it was cooked days ago and just dumped into a buffet. It was so horrible that I left this hotel and paid for another hotel out of my own pocket because Ethiopian Airlines was too cheap to put me into a decent place. Don't make the mistake of booking yourself here. Even a one star motel would be better than this awful place.

The hotel is located not far from the International Airport. The rooms are alright. The bed is sleepable with clean linen. However, the rooms are not soundproof. You spend the night (in transit) hearing all the noises from other occupants and the hotel staff chatting. The four o’clock alarm includes prayers from a megaphone to wake you up. The bedroom facilities are basic. There is only a towel, soap and some lotion. Bring your shower cap. There is no coffee or tea provided so be prepared to skip that. All I can say is I am glad to be on my way out this morning.

I recently stayed overnight at the Sunspot Hotel, arranged by Ethiopian Airlines during a transit connection. Unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory, and I believe it falls short of the high standards Ethiopian Airlines strives to maintain. Throughout my stay, I encountered numerous issues that significantly detracted from my comfort and convenience. The condition of the facilities was subpar, with old, dirty door rugs, unpleasant odors emanating from towels and pillows, and malfunctioning toilets. The food provided was inadequate, with limited options and served cold, making it unappealing and potentially unhealthy. Regrettably, I went to bed hungry as a result. Additionally, when I sought assistance from the reception to order dinner from an external restaurant, I was met with indifference and lack of support. Even the morning coffee failed to meet basic expectations, being served cold. The cleanliness and maintenance of the hotel's amenities were also concerning, with stained groceries, mugs, and unsightly marks on surfaces. Given these issues, I urge Ethiopian Airlines to reconsider including the Sunspot Hotel on its list of transit accommodations. A thorough inspection by your team would likely reveal the extent of these shortcomings, and I believe removing this hotel from the roster would enhance the overall customer experience.

I rate this appalling hotel a 1 star review as I couldn’t go lower even though I had arrived at this hotel with very little expectations I was extremely disappointed. To start of I had ordered the beef burger of the menu as the only other food was fish and pasta,I had requested a side of chips and to have no onions whatsoever. When my food finally arrived after what seemed like forever it was cold drenched in ketchup and covered in onions,when I had informed a member of staff of this and have him feel a chip to feel how freezing cold this was he chuckled and walked away without doing anything although this seems like nothing compared to what could have happened there is more. They gave me one of those travel shampoos but mine was half energy and had hair on it and to only cover half of the tournament this hotel put me through my bed was harder than rocks I wish I had slept on the floor.

This is an Ethiopian Air stopover hotel and wow do they let them selves down. The food was atrocious stone cold. We decided not to eat the buffet as it was only cold fish and cold rice. We went for burgers. They also came cold and inedible we complained and the staff laughed and took the plates away never to return. The room, the toilet did not work! Full of mosquito and no nets. The manager started to ask for 75 dollars till I insisted on an itemised bill and we calculated it should be 34 dollers. Ethiopian Air should not pit people here they ruined there reputation here. I will look to fly with a different airline in future.
