Albertinia Hotel

The hotel are busy renovating their rooms - so specify a refurbished room when you book. However it was still an excellent nostalgic stay and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Utterly delightful hotel, as far as it’s possible from the usual soulless tourist places. This family have run it for two generations and the owner will stand you drinks in the atmospheric bar (she did for us !)then eat the best steak and eggs in the western cape in the beautiful courtyard. It’s been a half way point on the road from Cape Town and PE for 120 years and is famous for its food and hospitality. Now being given a sympathetic update. Can you tell we loved it? The hotel was comfortable, had clean facilities, service was great, food was good. Now I have found my perfect pit stop when travelling from PE to CPT

Very rustic. Breakfast was awesome. Staff friendly and helpful. Great value for money considering it was Christmas peak. We were within 1 hour's drive of many coastal towns (George, Still bay, Mossel Bay). Great stopover point - as there is nothing to do in this small town. Fan did a great job to cool us off at night, but air-con would have been better. Only negative was that the wifi did not work and the service provider does not do calls on a weekend.

We stay at this hotel quite often and always have excellent service. I will recommend this hotel to anyone. The staff is very professional and always available for assistance. The hotel is easy to locate.

We had booked Albertinia Hotel because when my father was a boy, he stopped here on holiday while travelling the Garden Route with his family. But, wow!, has it ever deteriorated! We didn't feel comfortable or safe. The pub that’s part of the hotel was loud and noisy. Our room smelled like old ashtrays, and was very outdated. We weren't even sure the windows in our room locked properly and the windows were right on the main street of the town. There's also nobody there at night, no staff. They tell you to make sure to lock the gate in the main courtyard that leads onto the street, but what if one of the other guests forgets?! On top of all of this, load-shedding was occurring that evening and they had no generator. There were signs all over the hotel that said they're not responsible for any damages, theft, or death that may occur (for real, “death”!). We didn't actually end up staying there. We left just after we checked in and went somewhere else. Very sad because this place could’ve been maintained.
