Our family of 3 stayed here in October, during the last week of the season. I chose this hotel because it has a solid score of 4.5 on here and it was great value for money. Never in my life have I had to engage so many times with a hotels management team or TUI even. I have never had cause to complain anywhere else like I had to here. The customer “service” absolutely ruined our holiday. First impressions were good, nice common areas. Albiet we were messed around with check in - told to come back at x time, multiple times. I’d have preferred to have just been told to come back at official check in time. Pool area looked lovely… but the pool was dirty. Leaves, plastic, mouldy tiles. It remained uncleaned for the entire stay despite me leaving feedback to the manager and staff. The same pieces of plastic material were there all week. That was our first warning sign of the lack of care for guests. The aircon in our room did not work. We reported this many times, only to be patronised about closing the door or using the control. One member of staff was so sure that we were stupid, that she came to the room to check and then was surprised when we were correct! Nothing happened for days to resolve it, until I involved TUI, and finally they “upgraded” us to a different room which was just the same but had an open bathroom to the room and wasn’t appropriate for a family with small kids. At this point we were grateful to just get some sleep in the aircon so just took it in turns to leave the room when we needed to shower. One day, the water was off all day long throughout the entire hotel. No one informed us. I asked if dinner would still be served; yes it would be. I asked how exactly they planned on washing their hands to cook in a sanitary way? No response. We chose to eat out that night. Every night a high proportion of the food was mush recooked from the night before and a bizarre mixture of items. A couple of nights the food was so horrible that every one of us struggled to find something to eat, and we’re not fussy eaters. I could see filth and junk underneath cabinets so clearly no deep cleaning was taking place. We’ve stayed at cheap half board places before and know the deal but this was a new level of terrible. I also fed this back to the hotel management and to be fair it seemed to slightly improve. Now the penultimate part of our horrible holiday: my child vomited a lot of blood on the last night of our stay at 1am and we were rushed to the hospital by ambulance. I will never know if this was related to the horrible food, as she had gastric issues issue 7 months before; but seen as my partner also started with food poisoning a day or so later and they were eating the same dinners then I suspect it may have contributed at the very least. We spent 4 days in the hospital where she had to be put to sleep for an endoscopy.
