Hotel Calabona

Buon hotel, con una bella piscina. Ottimo il servizio di navetta gratuito verso/da il centro di Alghero, raggiungibile con una passeggiata sul lungomare. Spiaggia attrezzata con ombrelloni e lettini gratuiti, ma piccola e non molto bella... Siamo stati bene. Consigliato.

Everything was ok

This hotel was a great find. Parking is available in front for a cost per night or park on the street (sea side) for free. We chose free parking and had no issues. There is a path by the pool straight to the lobby. Our room was comfortable, clean and had decent closet space. We had two rooms, one was sea view other had a partial sea view. Lots of hot water, a tea kettle, comfortable beds, and clean bathrooms. Pool is large and in June wasn't too hard to find a pool chair. Life guard was on duty. Note: they do not allow you to throw a ball in the pool. Private beach area was nice to have but with so many beaches nearby we mostly went elsewhere. Hotel breakfast was nicely done. There is an additional cost if you want omelets or eggs over easy. They have scrambled eggs included but we found them cold. All other breakfast food was good. We ate lunch most says at the hotel and enjoyed it. Poolside drinks were very good and prices were reasonable. On the way to the bathrooms near pool is a book share area and a few games. There was also a ping pong table we saw kids playing at but never used ourselves. The shuttle to town was useful on our way to dinner when it was still warm but the walk to town in the early morning or after dinner was easy. The nice ocean breeze and mostly flat walkway was a pleasant stroll. The only things to note: the room fridges don't get cold. When you leave or open a door they turn off which makes the drinks in the minibar unappealing. Then they will charge you 3 euro for a small bag of ice if you want to enjoy the mini bar items cold. Pool towels are also for a fee. Alhegero is a great town and we found plenty to do for 5 nights. This hotel was a great spot to see it from.
