Hotel Julián

Everything one hopes a small, family-run hotel will be, but rarely is. From check-in to check out, all the staff were exceptionally welcoming, friendly and helpful. The hotel was spotless throughout and the rooms were comfortable. The walk-in showers were exceptionally good, with great water pressure and reliable temperature control - something rarely guaranteed in even the most expensive Spanish hotels. The well-appointed bar has a stunning selection of whiskeys and gins, and the servings of spirits are super-generous and reasonably priced. The rooftop restaurant was a summer evening treat, with stunning 360° views and a super cool vibe. Most importantly, the food - all unfussy, perfectly prepared and cooked local specialties - was delicious. The wine list was small, but high quality, with a super selection from the nearby Jumilla vineyards. Our breakfast was equally good, simple food, of the highest quality, served with charm and care. My only, very small criticism of our experience were the nylon bed sheets, and tiny bath towels. Cotton sheets and decent bathroom linen would have raised this from a 95/100 experience to a full 100. We will definitely hope to return to the Julian before too long.
