Spark by Hilton Amarillo Western Plaza

The hotel looks nice on the surface but some significant items should noted Room. There is a distinct mold odor in the hallway and a lesser odor inside room 301. Though appearing clean, bathroom floor was sticky. A dinning room chair was substituted for the desk chair. This made the desk surface too high to use. Fitness room. Significant mold smell. Elliptical machine did not work. Electronics were broken. The nice weight machine attachments were either broken or missing and the pin in one weight stack was broken and stuck in the weights. Did I discuss this with the desk clerk? Nope. Felt it wasn’t worth the effort and that this format would better get the attention of the location ownership and the chain. Gary

Very friendly and helpful check-in. Dirty elevator, hallways and our suite bathroom was worse than a public rest stop. The room was for six..we had no soap, no bath towels, and no bedding for sofa bed. We DID have 2 stained wash clothes and hand towels. The refrigerator didn’t work. The cabinet looked like a dog chewed the bottom off. One bed had a scarf, the other didn’t. Did not stay for breakfast..can’t imagine how clean that would have been.

The Hotel looked nice from outside, and parts of the lobby. Upon arriving to our room #223 it stunk like cigarettes and musky smell. The bathroom was very dirty and the a/c made horrible noises all night and didn’t work well. The pull out sofa bed was discussing with stains all over the mattress itself. I wouldn’t recommend staying here with all the choices around.

The walls in our bathroom had stains in the wall. I washed some of to see if it could be cleaned and yes it could be done, just had not been. The electrical plug in the wall in the bathroom was falling off the wall. There was a spot about 12 inches square that had been damaged by water and not repaired. It showed the damaged wallboard. The headboard was very dirty and needed cleaning. The breakfast was very poor...very little selection. There was no coffee, no tea bags, no hot water. There were no coffee makers in our room. We were in room 223. We will not be coming here again. This has always been where we stayed in the past in Amarillo.

Worst Comfort Suites stay ever! Bathroom mirror was dirty as was the sink fixture. Then there was the dirty rag behind the shower curtain which made me question the cleanliness of the entire bathroom and rest of the room. There was some meeting going on in the event space below our room which was loud enough to hear from the second floor and went on until after 10:00 pm. (If there are not established quiet hours, there should be!). Won’t even mention the screening kids from across the hall that kept trying to open the locked door. Will never stay here again. 😡

I called this hotel direct on February 13, 2022 to cancel two rooms which I had reserved for children coming to Amarillo for a much needed visit for all. After a Covid diagnosis I knew the reservations had to be cancelled for the health of the children and the other travelers at the hotel. I talked to Evelyn who cancelled both rooms and I received a cancellation number for both rooms. I later realized that one of the rooms was mistakenly booked at the no refund rate. I never pick that rate because I know the rules but I must have hit the wrong button this time. No problem I thought because it was a valid reason not to travel, cancelled within the time requirements and I did receive a cancellation number. After several days with no refund I called the hotel and was told I needed to talk with Mina the manager. I left messages every couple days with no return and no refund. I talked to Elina several times (both Evelyn and Elina were kind and courteous) but each time I was told I needed to talk to Mina. Well, I never did talk to Mina. She did credit $258.40 of the $293.60 charge so I get to pay $35.20 with no explanation of what this is for or why this amount. There is no information I could find on their web site about a charge for a emergency Covid cancellation. So please be cautious when booking this hotel and hope your family stays healthy.
