An excellent destination if you are visiting the Lakes! I was immediately impressed with the with the 5 star customer service as Kas came to my rescue when I found that I had accidentally booked the wrong date on a well known booking site. She sorted it all out and waived her option to take a substantial payment for the error. Top tip - book directly with Hillsdale for the best deal. On arrival we were given a very warm welcome and shown to our lovely room at the top of the house. It was immaculately spotless , warm and cosy. Everything you could need is there from a well stocked tea and coffee tray ( biscuits included) to hot water bottles in case we were cold. We had a first class nights sleep in the amazingly comfortable bed. Super soft pillows, just the right weight of duvet and high quality cotton bed linen. You are asked to fill in a request form for breakfast in the evening - how very sensible ! The dining room is bright and airy and the breakfast ( cooked by Kaz) was first class. The food is locally sourced where possible and every element of our very substantial ‘Full English’ was cooked to perfection. Excellent breakfast service from Steve with great attention to everyone’s needs. We were sorry we were not staying longer -Hillsdale is in a perfect location in the centre of Ambleside with free private parking nearby. The service and guest experience were 5 star. Looking forward to visiting again soon!

Steve and Caz provided a wonderful B&B experience for our family with a lovely breakfast, great room, conversation and super easy and helpful check in and booking experience. The location and parking was in the middle of town. Highly recommend, Cindy- Australia

Exceptional. The host was very welcoming, the decor throughout was to a high standard and the breakfast was delicious. We booked a a double room, and stayed as a couple. The room was great size, very clean and comfy. Great location to get get around the area. Would definitely go back. Highly recommend.

Had a fantastic stay at Hillsdale. Steve and Caz were the perfect hosts, nothing was too much trouble. Our room was spotlessly clean, comfy and a good size. Breakfast was amazing. Would definitely stay again and cannot recommend it highly enough.

We didn't just like this place, we loved everything ❤️ can't fault anything. The owners are lovely people, exceptionally clean, spacious, and comfortable rooms. Breakfast was really tasty, excellent verity, and it kept us going all day. Wouldn't look to stay anywhere else. This will definitely be our first choice next time we want to visit Ambleside. 😊

From start to finish of our weekend trip, it was nothing shy of sensational. Steven and Carole were exceptional hosts, local inside information with restaurants to coffee shops, even recommending a local florist to get my mother some white Lillie’s. The bedroom we stayed in was Mr Prickle (8) and every little detail was thought of. Immaculately clean, soft white bedding and fluffy white towels. As for the breakfast… WOW! Hot and cooked to perfection. Not only is this a must stay when visiting the lakes, this will add to your Lake District adventure. Couldn’t recommend this bed and breakfast highly enough. Thanks again Steven and Carole, and can’t wait to visit and stay again!
