Maasai Simba Camp

Wish We Stayed Longer My family of 4 (hubby, my mom, our son and me) spent 1 glorious night at this hidden gem on our way to Amboseli. It was one of the best places we stayed on our 12-night Kenya safari. Even our private guide who has stayed at numerous high end accommodations said this was one of his favorite as it's authentic and intimate. From the onset, we were "assigned" an impressive Maasai warrior, Quenya. He took care of our every need .. luggage, room, dining, etc. But, the most amazing thing Quenya shared was his deep knowledge of the Maasai, his love of the land and his ability to spot wildlife that abounds in this amazing place. On our first evening, Quenya took us on a 2+ hour walking safari. We saw sights, sounds and animals that we saw nowhere else in Kenya..up close and personal! Note we visited Amboseli, Masai Mara, Lake Naivasha, Hell's Gate and Lake Nakuru, so that's saying something! Quenya is knowledgeable, funny and engaging. He knew every tree and animal. He taught us things you'll never see nor learn on a driving safari. And, in the morning, he did it again! Those walks, alone, were worth every penny (and are included in your stay) .. and I haven't even gotten to the food! Note that we stayed in 5-star hotels, camps and lodges for most of our trip, and we all agreed that Maasai Simba had the best food, hands down. It was all tasty, plentiful, with ample salad, soup, meats, veggies, fruit and bread to go around. So much flavor and variety! We had spaghetti and meat sauce when we arrived for lunch, and I am still wishing I got the recipe. The accommodations were smaller and more "rustic" in nature, but they're interesting and full of character. Everything was CLEAN. We never saw a single critter anywhere. Mosquito nets were in pristine condition, not that we even needed them. For some reason, we never saw a mosquito anywhere in the camp, and I'm a HUGE mosquito magnet. The beds were super comfy, and they gave us a fan in each room, which kept us plenty cool. As for the camp, there were always cute velvet monkeys prancing about. We enjoyed a game of darts, strolling about the premises and an evening bonfire with Quenya regaling us with awesome stories about his life. So fun and memorable. My only regret was not staying longer. So, thank you to the amazing staff of Maasai Simba. You won't be forgotten.

Un accueil vraiment très gentil et agréable dans ce camps, une bonne ambiance générale. Nous avons adoré aller à la rencontre des girafes à deux pas du camps avec notre guide au petit matin (guide du camps attentif et pédagogue). Les visites aux habitants alentour sont un vrai plus et l occasion d échanger sur la vie des Massai, une vraie leçon de vie. Le confort est très simple mais tout y est, les repas sont vraiment très bons varies et copieux, la petite piscine est un vrai plus si vous avez des enfants. Nous avons aussi fait un safari à Ambosseli en véhicule privé pour une journée, c était un moment fantastique et le chauffeur était extra. Je recommande sans hésiter tout en sachant que c'est un séjours tres cher.

This is the worst place to stay and I would never recommend it too anyone. You get zero value for your money.The rooms were very terrible to say the least,torn bedsheets, smelly rooms,full of mosquitos and the toilet was not functional.. Worst experience ever.

Decu par l ensemble des chambres (3), sanitaires insalubres, pas d eau chaude, prix non justifie . Néanmoins l accueil était bon..., le cadre était sympathique.nous n avons pas profité de la piscine...par contre si vous souhaitez aller à Amboseli il y a 1 heure de route ...dommage

The best (human) experience we had in Kenya. if you are looking for an authentic experience and if you want to discover the Masai culture and way of life while enjoying a certain comfort (hot water, private toilets, comfortable bed with mosquito net...), this is definitely the place to be! The walks in the bush with Kwenia, as well as the visit of the village and the school were an unforgettable and privileged experience. The game drive in Amboseli was also wonderful with breathtaking landscapes. The food was very good, all the staff was so nice and helpfull (they even booked for us train tickets !). On the camp there are several very pleasant common areas to chill out... and all this for an excellent value for money. My 7 years old son cried when we left... and so did I.

Fantastische plek! We waren er drie nachten en verbleven in een van de tenten. Zeer authentiek en dicht bij de natuur. Accomodaties zijn basic en super schoon. Ze organiseren er wandeltochten waar je met een massai in de ochtend of in de avond kan wandelen. Het is fully catered en het eten is dankzij een zeer gepassioneerde kok uitstekend! Enorm vriendelijk personeel die er alles aan doet je verblijf tot een onvergetelijke ervaring te maken.
