Motel 6 Anderson, CA - Redding Airport

My Anderson stay. Bathroom was not cleaned very well. Still had a mark on the toilet seat and a stain on the floor. The beds are not comfortable.

I regularly stay at Motel 6, due to the fact that I travel with dogs. Some are crappy, some are really good; this one is the latter. Pride of ownership and management is evident in the cleanliness and maintenance of the rooms. The front desk staff gave me a quick call about 30 minutes after check-in to be sure everything was OK with the room. (This is protocol at very expensive hotels, but this is the first time the courtesy has been extended at a Motel 6). The heating/AC unit was quiet, very clean, and worked flawlessly, despite being the same model that sounded like a jet engine at a different facility the two previous nights. Curious, I pulled out the filters, and they were spotless. Bathroom and sink vanity sparkled, which only happens when cleaning staff maintain high standards for themselves. Floor was clean; no grime in the corners nor "dusty" feel that results from only vacuuming and never mopping. Micro-fridge worked perfectly, both for freezing and cooling. I highly recommend this Motel 6 and will definitely plan to return when my travels take me through northern California. Thanks to the owner and manager who set and maintain high standards for their guests' comfort!

I new this would be a pretty basic room which was fine as we were just stopping for the night on our way north on I-5. The room was very large and reasonably furnished, soap and shampoo, but no Kleenex's. The only issue I had with the room (and hence the stay) was that our non-smoking room REEKED OF SMOKE, our second non-smoking room also smelled of smoke but not as badly. In retrospect I didn't specifically as for a different room, but going back to the office (to get batteries for the TV remote) and mentioning to the staff person that the room smelled of smoke he said " thanks for letting me know, we won't ding you for that on checkout". Also on check-in I thought it was a bit odd that we had to pay a deposit ($100) for the two rooms we rented, the person on staff suggested we pay cash as we would have to wait 7-10 days to see a credit on our charge card if we were to use that. In the morning fortunately there was no one ahead of us at checkout as the only staff person had to lock up the office and go and check the two rooms to make sure we hadn't caused any damage or taken anything. We received our deposit back with no hassles. The room rate was quite low and looking around some of the folks staying seemed to be possibly struggling a bit, maybe this is the norm for this rate?
