Annabelle Beach Resort

We stayed at the Annabelle for 4 nights. The hotel was clean, the service extremely friendly. Bar staff especially, nothing was too much trouble. The food was good, lots of fresh fruits and salads, perfect for the hot weather.

Please do not be fooled by this hotel’s pictures and its description, it is not a 5 star resort. Staff are friendly but overworked and most likely underpaid. Stayed for 10 days, and not once witnessed the pool getting cleaned, water is extremely murky. The pool is horrific and the pool bar is messy, unclean and dated. Had to pay £2 euros for wifi access per device and day. “All inclusive” offered a range of 4 heavily watered down cocktails, the rest you had to pay for. Food is mediocre at best, not much option for picky eaters/ kids. Sunbeds are all pretty much broken and they bring up the blue sunbeds from the beach to compensate for the grey ones. Entertainment team are friendly. Rooms are small, changed bedding every day and received fresh towels. shower head was broken, mirror has rust and dirt around it, best thing about the room was the air conditioning that they surprisingly didn’t make you pay to use. We had to pay a euro (one time use) to use the scale to weigh our cases and then a further 2 euros each to put a case into each locker for safety. There is an “indoor pool” which is not available to use, with no water in it and used as a storage room as shown in pictures below. Gym times are unreliable and change depending on staffs mood, so do not rely on opening and closing times. we’ve been on many 5 star holidays before and this is most definitely a 4 star hotel. Me and my friends had a wonderful stay here at Annabelle Beach Resort. The staff especially made the highlight of our trip, they were incredibly friendly and accommodating. Valia and Efi in particular welcomed us warmly and were greatly helpful throughout our trip. The hotel backs onto a beautiful pebble beach and is a short distance to the town Hersonissos- which I highly recommend as it has lovely restaurants, bars, shops and nightlife. There is a nice selection of food every night and drinks are very nice. The entertainment is very inclusive and enjoyable, and the animation team are incredible and so friendly. Our room was cosy with comfortable beds and a terrace outside which was a nice touch. I highly recommend this hotel and would love to come back!!

We stayed at Annabelle Beach Hotel at the end of August. The hotel is located close to the airport, right on the seafront. It is advertised as a 5-star hotel, but honestly, I wouldn’t even give it 3. The place is dirty, the food is tasteless with very limited choice. Bed linen is old and worn out – they do change it, but the room itself is not cleaned. We even saw a huge cockroach in the room! There are frequent problems with water supply: you can be standing in the shower with shampoo in your hair, and suddenly the water just stops. When you call reception, not only are they unhelpful, but also very rude in their responses. The fitness room is poorly equipped, with just a few outdated machines. The hotel is overcrowded, there are no available sunbeds on the beach. Everything is outdated and badly needs renovation – including the staff, who clearly don’t meet the standards of a 5-star service.

I don't want to slag it off completely because it's 'OK'. But I do hate to see people being mislead by this Star rating system. What will really stick in your craw is to arrive and immediately be charged the tourist tax of 15 euros per night for your room. The level of the tax is based on the 5 star rating (!). Just to get to your room/bungalow and use the facilities to discover the follow: A moody hotel porter who dumps cases outside of your room and doesn't even open the door, let alone show you your new room, Dated old room furniture with loose doors, Rusty metal room lamps, Bedroom windows that don't latch closed, presumably worn out with age, so you have to listen to the cacophony of cicada beetles all night, every night, Thin sheets that slide around because they don't actually fit the master bed, Missing or non-working bathroom plugs, plus outdated plumbing, Old overused bathroom towels with hardly any absorbancy, Ages old parasols, One lifeguard to cover the main 2.80 meter deep pool and the seafront beach! A choice of only 5 cheap cocktails, otherwise you have to pay ~ although your on an All-inclusive holiday. A main restaurant which is completely self service. In real 5 star hotels you at least get a coffee or pot of tea bought to your table. No chance here. Zero alternative to lactose-full cows milk ar breakfast. I asked for an alternative like soy-milk and you'd think I asked them to dig for oil. Then had to request it everyday and stand near the kitchen every morning like a small child, just to get a small pot of the one somebody had clearly been forced to go and purchase. Cats, yes cats, are allowed to roam around inside the restaurants freely. Yuk! The moody old owners who comes out of the kitchen each morning in his old jeans and has a long gaze around at everyone before disappearing off. I wonder how many decades he has been doing this. No courtesy room when you check out. You have to use the public access toilets downstairs that just happen to have some terrible quality showers to wash in. Maybe this was 5 star in the 1980's or 1990's but id definitely not of that quality now. Youv'e been warned. I am a relaxed person who isn't into complaining, but this holiday cost a lot of money. Don't imply I will get champagne and then give me dish water!! PS. Nearly forgot. The very moody and camp guy who hands out the thin, ancient, yellow pools towels. Charmed I'm sure. Lol.
