La Varangue

After visiting the restaurant, we decided to book a weekend stay . It was amazing , quiet and restful Room was extremely clean , we will be back . It was over mother’s day weekend , so we had special Mother’s Day brunch . Staff speaks very good English , French and of course , Malagasy 🥰

Das Hotel ist sehr interessant. Hier hat jemand eine Sammelleidenschaft. Das setzt sich zum Glück nicht im Zimmer fort. Die sind moderner als erwartet. Service scheint etwas chaotisch zu sein. Zuerst wurden wir am Flughafen sitzen gelassen, obwohl wir einen Transfer über das Hotel gebucht hatten. Dann wurden wir mit anderen Gästen verwechselt, die gleichzeitiger wie wir gekommen sind und angenommen, wir seien schon im Taxi. Wir mussten etwa sechs Mal anrufen, bis uns doch noch jemand abgeholt hat. Beim Essen wurde dann auch noch der Hauptgang vergessen, dafür das gleiche nochmals gebracht

A lovely hotel located in the middle of Tana, the country's capital, but you would never know. Tana is loud, bustling and confusing, but La Varangue seems an oasis with a lovely and quiet courtyard bordering comfortable guest rooms. The hotel offers a restaurant and bar with outdoor seating, and a solid menu. Also parking. I would stay here again.

Our room was in a modern block looking over the dining courtyard and it had a balcony which was pleasant to sit out. Main building of the hotel attractively decorated with a huge collection of antiques which made it very characterful. The restaurant is lauded as the “best in Tana” but we found our 2 dinners and 1 lunch rather mixed in quality and it was extremely expensive . Breakfast was good - small buffet and eggs cooked to order. We were able to have a walk out from the hotel, it felt safe - well the presidential palace is just round the corner!

Tucked away behind the President's Palace after the hustle and bustle of the streets around had thought it would be a noisy experience. It was not. The view from the room (first floor, back of property) was across the properties courtyard garden over the surrounding buildings roof tops. The stairways and room were both prepared for mosquitos in terms of burners and nets around the bed. The balcony door was open on arrival (mid-afternoon) so a lovely freshness in the room. Bed was comfortable. Adequate storage for our one night stay. Lighting was comfortable and good enough to read by (paper books rather in keeping with the quirkiness of the general decor rather than digital reading). We had a quiet night both in terms of city noise and hotel noise despite being over the restaurant (which was well used with groups, couples and local families). Didn't know it then but was the best selection of tea and coffee making facilities we experienced on our Madagascar trip. all of the hotel team were friendly and helpful. Also a great location to go for an early evening stroll down to the Lac and up one of the many sets of steps after 24 hours of journeying a leg stretch needed.

Hotel e ristorante decisamente all'altezza delle nostre aspettative, davvero di ottimo livello. L'hotel si trova nella città intermedia, vicino al palazzo presidenziale e si compone di alcuni spazi abitativi affacciati su una bellissima terrazza e sul giardino pensile, con vista panoramica sulla città. La camera è moderna, spaziosa, molto pulita con un letto grande e molto comodo, dotato di zanzariera (a metà ottobre ci sono già parecchie zanzare ). Il bagno moderno, spazioso e con una doccia walk-in molto comoda . Ma il punto di forza dell'hotel è decisamente il ristorante, che offre piatti molto curati e di ottima qualità, davvero gourmet. Il tutto immerso in un ambiente molto accogliente, soprattutto grazie alle molteplici collezioni di oggetti antichi, molti dei quali in ottone, che conferiscono all'ambiente un'atmosfera unica. Da provare.
