Lavendish Wild Wilpattu

Our stay at Lavendish Wild was deeply disappointing, and we feel compelled to warn others — particularly women — about the experience we had. The male manager’s behaviour was nothing short of disgraceful. He was rude, arrogant, and openly misogynistic. During check-in, he blatantly belittled and spoke down to his female staff in front of us. He refused to acknowledge my female companion, directing all conversation exclusively toward me, simply because I am a man. It was uncomfortable, offensive, and completely unacceptable — especially in this day and age. His entire demeanour was smarmy and unlikable, leaving a very sour impression from the outset. His only redeeming action was helping us charge our electric tuk tuk, but even that came with an attempt to overcharge us — demanding double what other hotels had previously charged — and only backing down when we refused. The hotel itself is in poor condition. With serious maintenance and a complete cultural shift in leadership, it could be something special, but right now it falls well short. The atmosphere is strange and uninviting, adding to the overall discomfort of our stay. Breakfast was average at best. The only positive aspect was the kindness and professionalism of the other staff, especially Mairnika, who looked after our room with care and grace — despite clearly working under difficult and discouraging conditions. We would strongly advise against staying here. There are far better options closer to the Wilpattu park entrance, and none of them (we hope) tolerate the kind of backward, disrespectful behaviour we witnessed here.

We stayed here for two nights either side of a day’s safari in Wilpattu and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The rooms are comfortable with high ceilings and large windows giving a sense of space. Strong A/C. Bathroom works well. Everything was very clean. At the back of every room is a small balcony overlooking fields where several peacocks visit regularly. The garden and pool area are tidy and restful. However the really special thing here is the staff. They couldn’t have tried harder to be helpful and make our stay happy. Food is very good and served with a beaming smile. Staying here does involve accepting that bathrooms in the tropics might have insects etc but it also gives you a chance to stay in very comfortable surroundings with a team of people who genuinely want you to enjoy your stay. Brilliant!

It was a home away from home filled with hospitality from reception till the check out. Very attentive staff specially manager mr. Pradeep and Batti. Spacious rooms with all amnities.Very quiet place with tranquility. Customized delicious food. Close proximity to wilpattu national park and sacred city of Anuradhapura is about 20 km away. Prices are very reasonable. It's highly recommended.

We asa family had a lovely 2 night stay at lavendish wild wilpattu.The rooms and food were very good The staff was very friendly and accomodative.special note of Mr.Pradeep the manager who was very accomidative in every way.I fully recommend this place Andrea

Great value for money. The staff are very helpful and willing to go the extra mile to see that you have a pleasant stay. The manager of the property took a personal interest to see that things were in order. Looking forward to going there again.

It was an amazing memorable experience and special thanks to Niranjan nilanka ayesh nipuna lahiru sampath kumari and Manager Pradeep who go beyond. The rice and curry is out of this world and so fresh. Such value for money with clean rooms and a homely experience. Cant ask for more. Staff makes the place so welcoming
