We had a lovely stay at this relaxing hotel, located in a perfect spot in beautiful Apeldoorn. Every member of staff here was very friendly and incredibly helpful throughout our stay. I was there on business while my partner had more time to enjoy Apeldoorn. It's perfectly located to hop in a taxi to the business parks and the surrounding area is stunning, a joy to walk around. The town centre is just 15-20 minutes walk down the road from the hotel and very easy to find, the Paleis Het Loo (highly recommended) is just 10-15 minutes walk away and there are woodland walks just over the road. If in doubt, the reception staff are very helpful and will provide directions and advice. It is a great spot to explore Apeldoorn from and I wish we'd had longer here. The breakfast was great, with a good continental breakfast buffet and eggs or omelette cooked in the dining room on request, and sausages and bacon available if you prefer. The room was large, clean and the bed very comfortable. We ate in the restaurant on one evening and the food was lovely, the service friendly and we very much enjoyed it. There is also a lovely lounge area full of historic character and comfortable chairs where we would relax with a drink at the end of the day. All in all, a lovely, peaceful hotel where we felt very welcome. If we were to return to Apeldoorn, I would have no hesitation booking in here again. Many thanks.

We arrived early and, unlike the staff at the previous Bastion hotel, they were quite abrupt if not rude. We waited in the lounge and went back to the desk to ask a question and could not find anyone even though we waited 10 minutes. When we checked in the staff, yet again, were abrupt and NOT welcoming in any way. Dinner service was slow and required us continuing to find someone to serve us. On the second day our room was serviced to some extent whilst we were at breakfast. We went out for the day and came back to still no towels or toiletries (4.30 p.m.). My husband was given the towels and told the shower gel would be sent up to the room. Asked a third time for shower gel and at 7.52 p.m. we’re still waiting. Dinner, the service was worse than the previous night. Our drinks had not arrived when my meal was served and my husband’s 20 minutes later. We had to go looking to find someone to pay! Very disappointing after previous Bastion Hotel visits.

4th time of staying in this hotel and maybe the last. To start with the good: food good. To continue with the not so good: Room (a junior suite) was large but had a very soft mattress and only 2 very soft pillows for the 2 of us. It was generally clean but one of the bekers in the bathroom had lipstick on it. The bad: I think 90% of the staff were temps / students. On arrival the guy behind the reception desk clearly didn't have a clue about how to communicate with guests, not felt welcome at all. During our stay we saw 2 guests at the reception complaining about their rooms. We decided to eat in the restaurant and the food was good. The service was terrible. We assume this was because they had temp staff who did not have a clue what they were doing (no training?) I was served a bottle of beer with a small water glass, when I asked for a proper glass the server brought me a tumbler. After the food was served we had to ask for cutelry. I asked at reception for extra towel and was told that they would br brought to thr room that evening. The towels hadn't arrived by the time we checked out at about 11 the next morning. Ordering a tap beer at the bar in the evening was a marathon. My first choice was unavailable because there was only foam in the tap. It took 7-8 minutes to pay because the bar staff didn't know how to work the POS system. I understand why we wern't asked if we had enjoyed our stay when we checked out.

Good staff. Clean room. Excellent bed, one of the best we've had in a hotel room. Shower is excellent if a little dark. Lighting in the room isn't very bright. Glad we had the room with balcony, that was a great spot in the warm evenings for drinks & supper. Handy that the room had a fridge, and breakfast service has a 4 hour window. Evening menu is restricted, especially at weekends, so if using regularly it will soon become boring. Service on Saturday in the restaurant wasn't great. Out of 4 mains, 1 was off and it wasn't busy, the server was very young and not very interested in the job. Breakfast was always busy but the service was always top notch. Unfortunately, theres only so much cheese & ham you can take 😁 although plenty of options (yoghurts, cakes, danish pastries, cereals). Crispy bacon was a real boon though. All in all we can recommend Bastion very much, just find a restaurant in town (plentiful). Would be happy to return.

I send them my credit card details for guaranteeing a reservation for me and my colleague. At the same day I sent the details they used them to someone else's restaurant bill. I wasn't even staying at the hotel that time. In the email correspondence they have admitted that the charging was made for someone else's restaurant bill. They promised to make a refund within 14 days. Over two months gone now and no refund. I have been asking about it two times by email, but got no answer.
