We stayed at The Apollo and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. We arrived just before 5pm (around 4:30/45pm) and there was no one at reception, only a sign saying “be back at 5pm”, so it’s unclear how long it had been unattended. When someone did return, we were told our room wasn’t ready because the linen hadn’t arrived, despite check-in being from 3pm.
We eventually received bedsheets around 6pm, but the room still felt incomplete. The sofa bed was stained, the room generally wasn’t very clean, and there wasn’t enough cutlery or plates provided. We were also missing the sofa bed mattress topper, which I assume is why the bed was so uncomfortable, we barely slept and now we both have very sore necks and backs.
The staff member we spoke to was very unhelpful and offered little reassurance or apology. Because we had to wait so long for the room, we then had to rush out for our evening plans.
We messaged when we left to complain as when we checked out at 10am there was again no one at reception, so we couldn’t even raise these issues in person.
Overall, poor communication, cleanliness issues, uncomfortable beds, and lack of staff presence made this a very frustrating stay. Sadly, we wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it.
