What a surreal experience! Two of us were staying overnight. The twin room was lovely, obviously newly decorated with good taste. The room was spotless, the beds comfortable and the towels large and fluffy. However, it was very noisy and as it was a hot night we had to keep the window open. The noise came from traffic, loud voices outside and loud music in the pub part. The surreal part came the following morning: breakfast was supposedly included, but when we went to the restaurant it was like the Marie Celeste, not a soul in sight. There was a haphazard display of opened loaves and some yoghurts in a fridge. You helped yourself to hot drinks. In previous reviews they talked about the cooked breakfasts- where were they?

Booked for 3 nights. Realised afterwards that I’d wanted 4, and messaged the hotel but never received a response after 2 days. Arrived to stay in a twin room and was given a double, with the only option being an additional camp bed !! The hotel Confirmed they had received the request for a twin but had “run out” ? Was advised we could book an Airbnb over the road as well, at our expense obviously !! Not impressed, so we were able to book an alternative hotel for 4 nights.

Room was spacious and well decorated, included a long mirror which can so often not be included. Bed was super comfortable and it was a great location to the venues we were attending locally. Lovely greeting on arrival and tasty well cooked breakfast in the morning. Not so great was the lack of any USB points and water in the room, but was provided the water on request and graciously our greeter let us borrow their own charger for a few hours. ♥ The shower hot and cold water was wrongly plumbed in so they were reversed to what's shown on the tap - a relief when realised this and could finally shower :) Not sure that this is bad, but there doesn't seem to be any staff available on site overnight, and only the chef there in the morning for breakfast. Whilst the room met our expectations there can be some simple easy improvements made, like some hooks behind the bathroom to hang towels when showering or by the sink. Or more significant changes like widen the shower cubicle (which is tight fit) by extending it towards the unused gap by the toilet. I understand its under new management so it'd be good to see some improvements made to a venue with such a lot of promise.

An ideal place to stay if you like steam railways such as the Bluebell Line. There is plenty of parking and the staff are welcoming and helpful. I had a quiet and comfortable room for two nights and enjoyed both evening meals and lovely cooked breakfasts.

dining facilities were closed at all times,
Breakfast was self service with no cooked food and no tea or coffee available and no staff available to assist.
Definitely the worst hotel I've ever stayed at.

We give the cleanliness of the room and bathroom a zero! The bed itself was dirty, the carpet had stains on it, the walls of the bathroom were streaky and needed washing down and we didn't use the shower as the grouting between the tiles was black! We had paid for breakfast but on the second morning, there was no one to be seen and the breakfast room was locked so we left hungry (there was another couple waiting to get into the breakfast room and they too went without)! The pub itself looks nice enough from the outside but inside, it's brightly lit (so not cosy) and no atmosphere.

We booked in for a 2 night bed and breakfast stay to coincide with The Ardingly Antique fair. On arrival we were impressed and had a good lunch. We got up the following morning and went to breakfast. Unfortunately all the doors were locked so no breakfast nobody around. We picked up a bacon sandwich from the bakery next door. Just unbelievable. We were told various blame stories from the chef and the bar staff. We were offered a complimentary dinner. Overnight and on the morning not one person was at the Inn. Everything was locked except the front door so good job there wasn't a fire. Breakfast the following day was a help yourself buffet with no tea/ coffee and once again no one around. This place should not provide bed and breakfast if this is what they offer. Also I would suggest you avoid the small bottle of Prosecco at £10 a time. I am being fairly kind with this review.

We were three old friends having lunch together on a cold February day. We were made most welcome and couldn’t fault the food. One of us had the rump steak and chips, steak perfectly cooked and two of us had the sausage and onion sandwich, delicious! We all really enjoyed and will return.
