Great hotel in a great location with wonderful staff. The House restaurant is an experience not to be missed. The bar restaurant is good but overpriced. The accommodation has a few small niggles but still very good.

This was our second stay at The Cliff. We stayed previously in 2022 which was a wonderful experience. Unfortunately the standard has slipped dramatically since 2022. I contacted the hotel prior to arrival as I wished to receive the cot dimensions and unlike other 5 star hotels I was informed that this information was not available. I always like to bring my own clean fitted sheets for my baby so I was disappointed by this. On the third day, our bedroom was not hoovered and the dirty towels were not removed from the room. I was disgusted to note that the sheets were still not changed after my baby had spit up on the sheets on the FIRST night. I had to let our baby sleep with us in our bed on the second night for hygiene reasons. I went to reception on Thursday and informed the receptionist that our room was not clean. The dirty towels remained on the floor, the floor was not hoovered and our baby’s sheets and our sheets had not been changed since our arrival. The receptionist did not apologise but said to let her know when it would suit us to have the housekeeping staff clean the room properly. This lack of basic service and hygiene is simply disgraceful! The floor was never cleaned in the bathroom as there was a loose tile that was never removed throughout our stay. We dined at the bar restaurant on our first night. We were informed that it was impossible to provide a plain boiled potato as only mash potato was available for our baby. The food was simply dire. The menu options were poor and the portions were tiny. We had to book into a local restaurant for dinner for the remainder of our stay. In April 2022 the food and service was excellent in the bar restaurant. It is interesting to highlight that we were never asked how our stay was when we were checking out. We have previously highly recommended The Cliff to our friends and family but it is with great disappointment that we are unable to continue to do so.

This was our second time to visit the cliff house and our last.Its actually taken me this long to write this review because we were so mortified and afraid to comment, but I have to express it.Myself and my wife went here during midterm for a few nights.We had been before and despite a few strange and slightly rude interactions from staff in the bar, we enjoyed our stay. We decided to return again to enjoy their gorgeous spa facilities and these did not dissapoint.Staff in the spa have always been excellent too.Our problem lay with the breakfast on our second morning where we clearly heard homophonic remarks from a blonde haired waitress who seemed to think that a Covid screen was also sound proof. To say this was embarrassing and humiliating was an understandment.And if I wasn't 100% sure of what I heard it was confirmed when another waitress actually called out the comment and said it unkind....Meanwhile we were both less than 5 feet away looking right in their direction.We emailed the manager upon our return home and got an email saying that we would be accommodated on our next visit.But we won't be returning. This is just unacceptable for the price of this hotel and what it's marketed as. Never again

Awful experience at this so called 5 star hotel. The only good thing I can say about it is that the view is beautiful but boy are you paying dearly for that view. The service was by far the worst I have ever experienced in any hotel I have visited, had to wait 20 mins to be seated for breakfast and then another 25 mins for our order to be taken. They forgot to bring the tea and toast, it was a disaster. The heat in the hotel is excruciating, no air conditioning throughout the hotel. The rooms are spacious but the furnishings are dirty and stained. Cigarette butts on the terrace. Spa was the biggest disappointment. The water was freezing, the place wasn’t clean. Stray hairs all over the dressing room floor, just needs a really good cleaning. I found the staff to be very rude especially the breakfast staff. Overall, don’t waste your money going here. It’s overpriced and overrated and simply not up to 5 star standards.

The Cliff House is a wonderful place to visit and stay. The warm welcome and hospitality from the moment we pulled up to the moment we drove away was a treat and a delight.
