Taken to a lovely table at the back by a window beside a brook, butterflies, wildflowers. Explained I was celiac, given an explanation of what I could eat from the menu. Ordered a cider (it was room temp, so ice in the glass), ordered the chicken linguini which came very quickly after the drink, it was delicious and soon after the server came to check, I asked if it was gluten free and was asked if I ordered GF, and if it wasn’t GF, would I like another one??? Soon a chicken carbonara came, I asked if it was GF, was assured it was, but almost at the end of the dish was a lone linguini noodle! I was comp’d the cider, but charged for the pasta, though it should have been the other way around. Apologies from the server, not from the kitchen or manager. Not a good experience-not safe for celiacs. Even though they were busy, celiac gluten free needs obviously were not taken seriously by any one, so not recommended.

Where to start? After booking I received an email from Murray, a random person that was emailed all my personal information by the front desk at the Benmiller. Cancelled that credit card. When notified, the front desk sent Murray an apology. Never did apologize to me, instead said it was a 'learning moment '. When checking in I confirmed the suite had a jacuzzi. Front desk clerk described in glowing detail where the jacuzzi was and how big the suite was. Nope, no jacuzzi. They offered to move us yo a spa room. Checked out the spa room. Tiny, not even a shower, but yes, a small jacuzzi imbedded in the wall. Stayed in the suite. It was hot so ran the air conditioning all night. Room never got below 27C. Tried to open a window, bolted shut. Went for dinner. Explained my wife is celiac. First thing they brought her was a hot dinner roll. Nope. Second thing was her white wine. It was room temperature ie, hot. Property was also in disrepair and dirty. What a shame. We've been coming here for years. Never again.

Not as nice of an inn as they think they are. 3rd story room up a every small spiral stair case. Spiders in the room. A little far away from town. Wouldn't be bad if you didn't have to leave for everything. We stayed here three days and never once ate a meal here. Reservation only. Im on vacation, I'm not making a reservation for breakfast the day before. The spa is reservation only also, and it's not because they're busy. They just don't have people here on the property. All in all, stay closer to the beach and enjoy what the town has an offer.

I am sure it once was a magnificent country inn and experience. Unfortunately, it is not that way now. The lack of attention to maintenance and cleanliness and not providing any level of amenities in the room, etc. is now the norm! Considering the way the website portrays the place and the luxury, it is huge disappointment; not to mention the rates. We reserved and paid for a suite. The bedroom AC never worked and it was 85F degrees during our stay and worst of all, there was no attempt to address it even after several talks with the staff there. The so called coffee bar area in the room-- well the photo below can say more than my words. The maintenance of the entire place is very poor and sad in a way considering what it must have been before. On a positive note, the dining room staff was excellent and I want to commend the way they were there.

I expected much more from this inn for my $242.95. I was disappointed. When I registered, I was given a map of the large property so I could find my way by driving to another area where my building was located. I climbed the stairs to the second floor and discovered the key would not open the door to the room. I returned to my car and backtracked to registration, where I was given another key. Another guest said they were told the keys only work 70% of the time. Back in the car, I returned to my building, a former home built in 1906. I brought the luggage upstairs and entered a decent-sized room, which was overly warm at 80°F. I adjusted the thermostat, but the AC never came on, so we had to leave the patio door open all night. I suspect the heating/AC never works because the room had a floor fan beside the bed, and in the closet, I found portable heaters for winter use. The bed was the most uncomfortable hotel bed I have experienced in years. The bathtub had no non-slip mat so showering was at my own risk. We won't return but I imagine the owners couldn't care less.

The area is absolutely beautiful. The hotel is very dated, so just expect that going in. The bed was very comfortable They could do a better job cleaning though. A beautiful view of the river but the windows were extremely dirty and the deck overlooking the River needs some tlc. It was nice to experience the location however we likely won’t stay there again
