This is formerly an InterContinental Hotel so it has good bones. The positives: clean rooms daily, safe, great cheap massage, fantastic pizza on the terrace, excellent Italian coffee options, nice common space, you can change money, they will do your laundry, the staff are accommodating. In a country that prides itself on being disconnected from the world, this place has probably the best internet available — which is not fast or reliable. None of my apps or my IPhone worked. All this being said, it’s the fanciest hotel available and it’s honestly expensive for what it is. We paid $175 a night. It needs renovation.

Superb service and excellent buffet

Hits and misses Oh dear. A really mixed bag. Positives: 1. Airport shuttle with a truly amazing greeter at the airport. Phenomenal guy. 2.Beds have terrific mattresses and good bedding. You’ll sleep well. 3.Rooms are specious; have kettles for hot water and bottled water is free. 4. Obliging and kind staff. Negatives: 1. WiFi barely functions. Print off all key documents for onward travel PRIOR to coming here. Warn your office communication may be spotty. Forget viewing large files or streaming a movie. 2. Skimpy amenities. I was given ONE TEABAG next to the kettle for a 3-day stay. Huh? 3. My room wasn’t serviced with fresh towels and a made bed until I spoke to the front desk. 4. Apparently shampoo and bath gel are supplied only upon request. I could have REALLY USED those things on night one when my luggage failed to arrive. Separately a tray from room service on my corridor sat the hallway for TWO DAYS. Inexcusable. In short, they need to professionalize BIG TIME to justify their hotel class.

This hotel is very close to the airport. I am a regular customer in this hotel I arrived at the hotel without my luggage due to an airline mess up. I had nothing on me except the clothes I was wearing. The staff at this hotel were very supportive and went out of their way to help me in my distress. I was blown away by their kindness, generosity and sensitivity. I personally feel they went above their call of duty and I felt blessed by their numerous acts of kindness. It is managements like these that would make me stay with them again the next time I am in Asmara. In one of coffee bars I had the tastiest sandwiches I have ever had and I have travelled! I ordered the same sandwich more than once. Their coffee and cappuccino were something to write wowwwww…. It was a good coffee bean whatever they used. A high-quality hotel, I'd guess the best in the country. Rooms are spacious, well-appointed & comfortable. This is a hotel which definitely could you some upgrading in the rooms, 24hrs hot water, electricity (generator). The lobby is very lively all the time. There are In & outdoor swimming pools, tennis courts & a fitness suite. The two restaurants are very good. Breakfast buffet is satisfactorily good. The Italian restaurant is romantic better of the two. A little pricey but within range for an international hotel is Ok. Connectivity to WI-FI is free. All staff are attentive & professional. I suggest to visit Eritrea and stay in this Hotel you will enjoy.
