The Gleneagles Hotel

A truly fantastic hotel with superb service. Would recommend the Birnham and the Dormy for evening meals. The spa is absolutely world class as well. Superb breakfast. I won’t go on to much with this review but the hotel lives up to expectations and is deserving of the higher pricing, a few times I rang room service for additional items such as water and they arrived within 2 minutes I’m convinced they were teleporting! Would recommend to all.

Our first visit to Gleneagles but not our last. I have been wanting to stay here for an extremely long time but have not had the opportunity until now, it did not disappoint. From our arrival the staff were amazing, eager to help and all very personable and easy to talk to. The atmosphere at the hotel was relaxed, peaceful and welcoming. You know you’re in one of, if not THE best hotels, in the world but everyone makes you feel at home so you can relax and enjoy your stay. We ate at the Strathearn and Andrew Fairlie, amazing food both nights, a great experience which we look forward to enjoying again. The accommodation was fantastic, plenty of space to relax (we didn’t spend too much time in it), the bathroom was stunning, both well maintained and extremely clean as expected. A private balcony if you wanted to spend time in your room, a quiet haven for peace and seclusion. The only thing my wife would have liked was a full length mirror but I assured her she looked stunning. Cannot wait for our next visit.

Had an amazing experience while attending a wedding. The hotel accommodations were fantastic and the staff provided top notch service. Would recommend for anyone looking for. A long weekend retreat. Three days aren’t enough!

The whole experience of staying at Gleneagles cannot be fully described it is an experience to cherish. I first stayed at Gleneagles when I was 21 and had several of my friends join me. This time 60 years on was special as I was joined by my daughters and their families

We experienced a mixed bag at Gleneagles. The good/great: Golf was excellent. We played the PGA and the Kings Course. Conditions were outstanding. Slight downside if pace of play matters. There is an obligatory time out at the Halfway House. We were told by the friendly staff member it would be 10 minutes, but that time stretched to 15 then 20 minutes as the players in front of us were rather slow. Wasn’t really a factor on the PGA as the weather was beautiful, but it was cold and rainy on the Kings Course. Didn’t really appreciate waiting in the rain. Cocktails were stellar in every bar on the property. Some of the venues offer quite exotic and pricy concoctions. Every drink we tried was amazing. Breakfast was incredible. There is a significant buffet and a menu. Unlimited specialty coffees. One morning I overheard a guest order a five egg omelette with a long list of ingredients. The chef smiled and replied with, “of course! “. The turn down service offered every evening was a treat. Staff changes out towels, offers extra bottled water, and arranges the room for comfortable sleep. The not so good: We arrived on a beautiful Sunday afternoon only to find the grounds and hotel utterly overrun. Mind you, this is an 850 acre property. There were so many people it was challenging to reach the front desk to check in. I was not expecting this. Hotel personnel were certainly friendly and welcoming, but our room was not ready (the hotel was at capacity). We were granted access to all amenities, but it was impossible to use the pool or find a spot in an open restaurant for a bit to eat. Every venue was overflowing with families. This level of overflow was consistent throughout our five day stay. The only venues that felt luxurious were the bars and the golf courses. Our room was in the Manor House (main hotel). We had a nice view over the grounds, but the shower had very little water pressure and we experienced some maintenance issues. The problems were quickly addressed by management but at more than 1000.00 US dollars per night, I wasn’t expecting issues. Excess charges. Yes, they are “discretionary “ at least the 5% room rate charge. All food and beverage incur a 12.5% surcharge. We often heard other patrons grumble - “very un-Scottish” or “too American “. Personal, I suppose. Would we return? I don’t think so.
