Flying Flags Avila Beach

Our group stayed at this campground from August 29 to September 1, 2025. My wife booked us the four tent sites for $10 per night per camp site. The value was totally amazing for the price we paid. In comparison to various other campsites we’ve stayed at in the past, this one offered the absolute best “bang for your buck” if you’re camping at the tent sites. The check-in process was super simple and speedy. The staff we interacted with were all super friendly and helpful. The upkeep of the camp site and its common areas were superb. The bathrooms were some of the best we’ve ever seen at any campsite. They were regularly cleaned and maintained multiple times per day. The best part of our camp site (Site 10) was the sitting ocean view! We loved walking up each morning to the glorious sights and sounds of the ocean. We will definitely be back and we may even consider staying at either one of their Jupes or cottages.

Beautiful RV Park. Great large spaces with cement pads and gas firepits. Awesome, unobstructed views. It's on the pricey side but very nice park.

We are always having the best time here. The view at the ocean is amazing as well as the beach where dogs are allowed. Nice food on the pier and the little tram that takes you to the city center is fun. And definitely rent a kayak and visit the light house! So much wildlife including sea otters, sea lions, seals, dolphins, pelicans etc. One of my favorite campgrounds!

We use the RV sites and they are spectacular. Well laid out with good spacing between them, excellent hook ups, site landscape and fire rings, and the views down to the bay are wonderful. Within a 25 mile driving radius in the area, there is a wide variety of beaches, historical sites, shopping, restaurants, and activities. Touring the historic 1890 and restored Port San Luis light house is a very special look into the history of the area and life at those times in this area. The Avila Valley Barn is a unique experience for the whole family. Shopping and wonderful local produce. Farm animal petting pens for children. Good food and wonderful ice cream and sweets shop. Plenty of parking. Plus, there are regular SpaceX rocket launches from Vandenberg Space Force Base that are easily visible from Flying Flags, day or night.

Stayed in the cottages the veiw was not as seen on website. Not setup for stays longer than a night or two. No kitchen amenities, no microwave,kitchen utensils, no coffee pot. No place to unpack clothing from suit case. Parking was tight had to share with neighboring cottage not enough room for two med size cars. Definitely not worth the money.

If you are tent camping please know that there is no water near the car tent camp sights. The management has thoughtfully hung a flytrap near the portable toilets for your convenience. In addition to bringing your own water, you will need to take a roll of toilet paper with you to the portable toilets, because they are not serviced every day. Note: The nearest water faucet is at the top of the hill in the walk-in-camp sights and this brand new multi-million dollar camp ground only has 4 shower stalls per gender for the entire complex.
