Abbotsford Hotel

Fabulous overnight stay Stunning hotel. Weather was glorious and a lovely outside area to sit with a refreshment. Rooms are out of this world and all beautifully designed. Only thing missing is bottled water. Dinner and breakfast very tasty. Only complaint steak was very fatty and grizzly. Not great as it was £32.00. Bar has a great selection of drinks. Small and quaint bar area. Can get busy and you can loose your place in the queue. Staff were very friendly and welcoming.

My first visit to to The Abbotsford Hotel was back in 1973 when it was a favourite disco venue frequented my many in their early 20's. Noise abatement put an end to that. Has always been more of a man's pub. The Gents toilet next to the front door is state of the ARK and hasn't changed much over the years. THe Abbo was a favourite for many years but I hadn't been in there for at least 8 years due to issues with the dreadful attitude ofof one of the brothers in the family who were the previous Owners. We dined in the room that used to be the Sports Bar. Although the place was very quiet the service was dreadfully slow. It was fully 65 minutes before two of us received our food. The newly introduced May 2025 menu is disappointing, unimaginative and not inexpensive. Sorry to say that we all agreed that it isn't for us.

Positive review for the food but negative for the atmosphere. All guests at our table thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Well done chef ! We are unlikely to go back due to the atmosphere. I felt like I was at a pub, not a hotel that has won Hotel of the Year. Pre dinner drinks on a sofa under the stairs not ideal. We also shared the dining room with guests who had clearly been drinking all afternoon in the sun outside. One gent was sneakily vaping. Thankfully not on the next table. Not keen on drinking beer directly from a bottle either - I had to request a glass from the bar.

We stayed here for 3 nights whilst on a car run. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were excellent and courteous. The food was brilliant and reasonably priced, although the menu was a bit limited due to a kitchen refurbishment. The rooms were clean and well laid out. We got fresh milk and bottled Water delivered to our room each evening. We were so impressed by a painting hanging in the bathroom that we sourced a copy on the Internet and bought it. Overall, the stay was excellent and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

A nice hotel, located within walking distance to the beach. The room was lovely and had everything we needed. We couldn’t fault the warm welcome we received from the staff, who were obviously very busy due to staff shortages. They were extremely friendly and couldn’t do enough for us during our stay.

Really nice hotel, and would be more than happy to stay there again. My only reason for marking down from 5 stars is that they seemed understaffed at breakfast, the young lady who was serving, and managing reception, was doing an excellent job but was overstretched, leading to the buffet being missing quite a few items. Please take my feedback as constructive, that is how it is intended.
