Casa Heysol

We booked a room here and received confirmation. However when we arrived it seemed they had no record of our booking. Certainly they were not expecting us. Still, we were offered a room. I’d seen photos so I expected 'quirky’. But this was downright shabby. Worse, it was absolutely filthy. Some things indicated that the room had not been cleaned after the last guest. Such as the dirty towels in the bathroom (hurriedly removed, but still) and the empty wine bottle on the floor. Some of it indicated long-term neglect. The dirt looked caked on, there was cobwebs and mould. It needed a really good scrub everywhere. We are coming towards the end of a year-long backpacking trip. We’re not unacceptably fussy. We have stayed at some cheap and basic places. Not all of them have been spotless. But this was just disgusting. I couldn't stay in such a dirty place so we left. This is the first time I have ever done this. The guy didn't seem at all surprised, or ask us why we were leaving. He just waved as we walked out. I hate to be so negative. I understand this is somebody's business. But it's also people's holiday at stake. I think it can be fixed, but personally  I would not stay here until the owners acknowledge the problem and organised a thorough deep-clean.
