This hotel is trading on the happy accident of its location. Beside a lovely stretch of the river Lot. That's it. That's all. We had booked a "Privilege" room, Logis call it "Grand Comfort'. It wasn't Grand and we're not sure what the privilege was. Room was tiny with a scruffy terrace attached that did have river view but backed on to a road. No kettle, no fridge. Dinner in the restaurant was good. The €10 each G&T aperitif was not. A sniff of Beefeater and some flat Schweppes. And so to the main story. We only book rooms with Air Conditioning. Well before we travel I will e mail the property with a standard request "Please confirm room air conditioning will be available with cooling function." The hotel replied that it would be. It wasn't. The machine was set on heating mode. There followed a most bizarre exchange with an extremely rude and offhand woman on the front desk who, it turns out, was the person that replied to my e mail. The entire hotel's AC system was set to heat and that was that. It was cool outside so it was not in cool mode despite her mail saying it would be. I explained that I don't sleep outside but in a tiny room that is hot. After several minutes of Kafkaesque discussions about temperatures, weather, how an AC system works, the date of my e mail request and her response (February). She suggested we open the window. I suggested I might complain to the credit card company for chargeback on the grounds of false advertising, breach of contract and non - provision of services. She hadn't a clue what chargeback was and then threatened to call the Gendarms ! Extraordinary. I really couldn't be bothered to continue with the discussion and accepted a paltry €7 discount. We thought the bad old days of dishonest, rude French hoteliers had long gone. This hotel seems to be on a one - woman mission to revive them. SO: If you don't mind being lied to and threatened please go ahead, if not avoid this place at all cost.
