Banbury Wroxton House Hotel

We are frequent travellers in UK & abroad. We try to be fair. The room booked at £135 for an executive room did not deliver to our expectations. No curtains (apparently a standard in every room despite marketing photos & video that show differently) just plastic shutter/blinds that do not cancel the light: tired room & bathroom, attention to detail missing (remote for tv needed new batteries, shower curtain missing 20% of hooks, chipped mirror, cobwebs on shutters, absence of power sockets left side of bed; on reservation had requested a quiet room, allocated a room looking onto bar patio and in direct path of all traffic into/out of the hotel. Worth noting: avoid rooms 21 & 22 if the constant slamming of the fire exit being used as a short cut to the car park would disturb you (oh it did!!); I did complain on check-in about the missing curtains and position - was offered a standard room (paid for executive) one floor up in pretty much the same position). In fairness the bed was comfortable and overall the room was clean. We booked the dinner & breakfast package - again in fairness the food was great - lamb shoulder & chicken kebabs well cooked & presented - tasty, succulent and very enjoyable: (Eaton Mess could do with more creative plating & better balance of meringue to cream (fresh fruit?)) - it went uneaten. Tip to staff: the restaurant can hear 90% of the conversations you’re having in the the kitchen - more so when you shout ;-) Cooked breakfasts were good, continental a little sparse. In today’s competitive market it’s a shame this misses the mark - so close to Stratford and in a beautiful setting with staff that (largely) tried hard; it’s missing the details that raise this above adequate: and when you’re starting price is £135 plus dinner & breakfast you can’t afford to be adequate: that’s Premier Inn price point in many cities!

Very comfy beds, beautiful hotel and location. Beautiful bar area and seating inside and outside. The best bath I’ve ever had. However, very slow service for food. We waited 45 minutes just for breakfast to come and then some of the food was missing off of the plate.. Food wasn’t very hot on arrival. Not many staff members. Also, the cleanliness of the rooms weren’t entirely spotless with some masks on furniture and dust on areas. Not all of the staff were very welcoming and seemed to not care very much about the guests. With that being said, I would still return as the hotel was beautiful, we could have sat in the garden all day!
