Red Lion Hotel by Greene King Inns

Just returned from a relaxing overnight stay at The Red Lion. This makes the third time my wife and I have stayed in the last year, which demonstrates what a little gem this place is. From walking into the building we were met with a sincere and friendly welcome from the staff. Booking in was a breeze. Our room was spotless and tastefully decorated, complementary tea & coffee tray, the towels and bed linen was fresh and spotless. We ate in the restaurant that evening, great menu selection, our meals freshly prepared and piping hot. Great nights sleep, comfortable bed. The following morning went down for breakfast, again great choice and cooked to order. We enjoyed our stay so much, I’ve booked again for the next year. This is a beautiful historic inn, professionally run with great staff, you can’t go wrong. On a side note, when I last stayed in January, I mistakenly left my umbrella behind. When I returned yesterday, my umbrella was there, looking quite at home, sat in the umbrella stand. I decided to donate it to the pub, may it serve you as well as it has served me! ☂️

We have a lovely time, from the moment we booked the hotel. Lucy was very helpful, both on the phone and at reception. The room was very comfortable and quiet. The restaurant evening meal had a wide selection of choices, which was also very well cooked. Breakfast menu, offered a good selection and was well cooked. All the staff were very good. A good time. A tiny room I have stayed at the pub before and always found the staff to be friendly. I was staying for 3 nights on business, the room I was allocated was a double, the bed took up most of the tiny room . A luggage rack was provided but it was impossible to use as there was nowhere for it to go. After the first night I asked if I could be moved but was told it wasn't possible. I have to say I was very disappointed and probably won't consider staying there again . I also don't understand why I was charged different prices for the same room on consecutive nights.
