We last stayed at Duke's nearly twenty years ago and it hasn't changed! That's not a negative, although I believe rooms are rightly being refurbished. The greeting on arrival was warm and genuine, although staff seem to double up in a number of demanding roles. We were delighted to be upgraded to 'Norfolk' a spacious ground floor suite and enjoyed the space, decor and period details. Yes, a little dated, but still has the Georgian elegance to wow the Bridgerton Brigade. The room offered a separate lounge area with comfortable chairs and sofa, adjoining a spacious bedroom with king-size bed. A fridge or mini-bar would've been nice but the room had all you need including Nespresso machine and plentiful pods. Milk was UHT, but may be updated when refurbs are complete. We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast and staff were cheerful and enthusiastic. Breakfast was cooked to order which is a plus and ingredients were decent with no sign of the dreaded economy banger. We'd happily return but feel that the hotel could retain its undoubted Georgian charm with a few contemporary updates.
