Chateau Champcenetz

Spent a night here with my husband and 2 young children in a family connecting room. We all absolutely LOVED staying here and did not want to leave. We wished we booked to stay longer. We were very impressed with our room and it was very clean. The pool was huge but be prepared as it is not heated. Jeanne was fantastic. She was friendly and helpful and catered to our food allergies. We booked to have dinner here which was AMAZING! They catered for my son who was gluten free and my husband who is dairy free. We had baked cod for starters, steak with potatoes followed by chocolate cake. The food was very posh and full of flavour. It was like eating a a Michelin restaurant. The breakfast was superb, homemade jams, baked bread, cheese, scrambled eggs, bacon, yogurt with granola, fruit….there was so much to choose from. We all ate very well. We will definitely come back to stay here again for longer. Thank-you Jeanne for an amazing holiday experience.

Terrible experience. When arriving at the chateau we were not greeted. We had to find Jeanne’s husband who seemed put out to show us our room. Upon being shown our room we were not given any instructions in relation to the venue etc. or any specific rules. On the first breakfast that was apparently included, we asked for an egg that wasn’t cooked in cream and salt for our 5 month old baby. They tried to charge €5 euros for this at check out which we felt was unreasonable. Disgraceful. When refusing to pay €5 for an egg that should have been included as breakfast which was part of the room rate, Jeanne then started having a go at me about the fact we had our lunch in a communal area. Ahead of us travelling, we had enquired about having lunch with them but they said they didn’t do lunch so I’m not sure what we were supposed to do… really strange behaviour. Jeanne then said that we should have been buying water from them…. Again just really strange behaviour. On the day of checkout my father and his partner had another night at the venue so we stayed with them for a couple of hours after 11am check out. Again Jeanne tried to suggest we should be paying an extra €10 euros. We were out of the room by 11am as per normal check out. I wasn’t aware that they wanted us off the property. It was really disappointing customer service. Finally as part of this conversation Jeanne was shouting at me, “my house my rules”several times. I’m not sure Jeanne and her husband belong in the hospitality industry if this is how they treat guests.. really strange. I wouldn’t return if they paid me. Do yourself a favour and avoid it. They are just really unhelpful and not very pleasant hosts. They are clearly just after money rather than providing a good experience.
