"Standard motel, with average facilities and cleanliness. You can park right in front of your room. The room has a balcony facing the road and the sea, offering an expansive view. The town is small and quiet, and the hotel is within walking distance of attractions. However, it's best to book restaurants in advance, as they might be closed if you go late. Drinking water isn't provided, and when I tried to buy some after 9 PM, I couldn't find any open shops in town. If you want to see penguins, it's best to join a tour; it's hard to find them on your own. But the sunset near Lobster Shack is truly beautiful!"

Sandpiper Ocean Cottages ★★★

"We went to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary and my husbands 71st birthday, we stayed in Hanalei Cottage a 2 bedroom nice cottage. We went on Friday stayed till Tuesday, we decided to not cook big dinners while away but there is a full size kitchen with all the kitchen ware you need. On arrival you are given a beautiful welcome basket of goodies, milk, butter, sourdough bread, eggs, two types of muslies we loved this and ate it all. The Cottage was well stocked with all the creature comforts you need, was clean, has a lovely veranda all the while very private and so quite you just hear the ocean just off in the distance. We found the access to the beach very easy and had it to ourselves each time we went down. Sandpipers is dog friendly our greyhound Wally loved it and was enthralled with the smells, the little noises in the scrub. Bichino is only a short drive away with everything you need, supermarket, takaways, post office, newsagent and bottle shop just to name a few."

"Spacious cottage, beautiful beds. However, the wifi is so poor from Redbill cottage that we cannot connect to internet. Telstra connection is very poor and intermittent. Hence, we have no internet connection during our stay at the hotel. The swim pool was not made available to use. Free laundry is much appreciated."

"I liked that there was water, milk and chocolates for us. Definitely the milk was a nice touch as we had kids who loved their milk. The radiator was nice and I liked the cleanliness of the entire place. Will stay again next time we are in Bicheno!"
