The Millstone, Mellor

Had a lovely seafood platter sat outside with drinks 🥂🍺 a lovely setting and staff very friendly and welcoming. Will definitely visit again in the very near future. Would love to take friends and family there to experience the atmosphere of this place.

A Premium Price for a Substandard Experience The Millstone Inn markets itself as five-star accommodation with rates to match—among the highest in the region. Unfortunately, the rooms tell a very different story. Our room was surprisingly cramped for the price point, with tired carpeting that bore multiple stains throughout. Water damage was evident on the ceiling, and housekeeping standards fell well short of expectations—we found a long black hair on the bed linens upon arrival. The restaurant clearly draws a discerning clientele (judging by the car park), but the accommodation itself wouldn't merit two stars by any objective measure. While the Thwaites group may have elevated expectations through their marketing, the reality is a significant disconnect between promise and delivery. For these rates, guests deserve far better. Until substantial improvements are made to the rooms, there are better value options elsewhere in the area. Though we planned to stay at the Millstone for 6 nights, we immediately made other arrangements.

Great hotel with lovely food. Slept very well in a room in the main. Some really nice touches.

12 of us went today for my Mums birthday. Due to large number in our party we had been asked to pre-order. When mains came out 8 out of the 12 were wrong :(. Thus meant the other guests had finished eating before everyone else :(. Roast beef was tough and very fatty - not pleasant and I would normally send it back but having already waited once we couldn’t wait any longer. Wine glasses brought to table were filthy and not polished :( Very disappointed with both food and service. What have you changed ? We’ve been several times before and thoroughly enjoyed it. Won’t be coming back after today’s poor experience.

Lovely village pub, restaurant and hotel with such lovely staff (particularly Zoe). Easy check-in and lovely touches in rooms such as freshly made shortbread and a large variety of hot drinks. Breakfast was amazing too. Rooms looking a little tired but certainly wouldn’t deter me from booking here again.

Magic Millstone My meal on Sunday evening was the best I’ve ever had, and the service by Rula wonderful and friendly.. room was delightful and breakfast delicious hot and perfectly served. Excellent choice the only problem was when paying generally with ********** I pay before I leave home and can use my Keycash points but as Mellor took funds on leaving the deputy manager didn’t know how to use my credit which would have covered my meal. She tried to phone but apparently couldn’t get through. I will be taking this up with you in my return.
