Hunavellir Guesthouse

Stayed here for 2 nights with my husband as we were working near by. The rooms are clean but plain. The pool is good and hot. Open all day until 10pm. The breakfast was a bit poor. No fresh fruit or yoghurt. Poor selection of teas, glad I brought my own herbal teas. The building itself is a rather ugly school type building. But on the whole we found it a good basic place to stay.

Nous avions un chambre triple. il s'agit d'un établissement scolaire qui loue les chambres quand les enfants ne sont pas là. donc ne pas s'attendre a un hôtel! Ambiance colonie de vacances plutôt (sauf qu'il n'y avait pas grand monde...) Chambre très correcte pour 1 nuit. Douches et WC sur le palier. Pas gênant car je pense que nous étions les seuls à cet étage... Lavabo dans la chambre. Petits déjeuner buffet très bien. Nous avons profité de la piscine extérieure (grande piscine chauffée pour nous tout seuls!). c'était bien agréable... et aussi du gymnase où nous avons pu jouer au basket. Hotel très vide et calme lors de notre passage. Un peu éloigné de la ville mais pas gênant en voiture

L'hôtel Huni n'en est pas vraiment un puisqu'il s'agit d'un collège qui fait hôtel durant les vacances. Les petits Islandais ont de la chance d'avoir un établissement aussi agréable, les chambres sont grandes, les salle de bains individuelles sont immenses ! Tout est très propre. L'hôtel dispose d'une belle piscine et d'un jacuzzi dont nous avons profité. L'établissement étant isolé nous avons dîné sur place et le repas est tout à fait correct, le petit déjeuner est limité. Le seul défaut est que l'on se sent malgré tout plus dans un lycée que dans un hôtel mais pour une nuit ce n'est pas désagréable.

L’hotel Huni in realtà è una residenza per studenti che d’estate viene convertita in hotel. Anche se presente una piscina e una piccola vasca con acqua calda, i servizi sono abbastanza essenziali. Le camere, ai piani superiori non sono raggiungibili con ascensore ma solo tramite scale. Il ragazzo alla reception comunque è stato gentilissimo aiutandoci a portare su una delle valigie. Le camere sono semplici ma spaziose con un bagno enorme. La colazione un po’ ridotta rispetto agli standard islandesi. Prezzo abbastanza alto. Parcheggio gratuito. La struttura è abbastanza isolata (a una ventina di km da Blönduós) ma ha un ristorante interno.

We parked our campervan in the field at Huni and it was a really pleasant experience. The indoor bathroom facilites were clean and comfortable and it was cold that evening so we were able to lounge inside when needed. There was a good breakfast in the am and overall very comfortable.

We visited in early June, and had a private room. After staying and seeing the shared bathrooms though, I would likely choose that option next time as the shared bathrooms were plentiful, clean, and felt private. The location is excellent, with amazing views out over the valley and lake. The view from the pool was outstanding, and we enjoyed the hot pot when we arrived late in the evening. The room itself was very clean, large, and with the largest bathroom we had while in Iceland. Everyone at the hotel, the manager, staff, etc. were incredibly nice and welcoming. Breakfast was great and even included fried eggs, which we didn't find in any of the other 12 hotels we stayed in during our time in Iceland. This is one of the best hidden gems, and I would definitely stay again the next time I visit Iceland.
