La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Islip - MacArthur Airport

This La Quinta is in a facelift/remodel. This includes rooms, bathrooms & furnishings. Fitness Ctr was lacking & Spa/pool was closed for the entire stay. Selection at the Breakfast was lacking but the coffee bar was well managed throughout.

Such a long list of complaints, where do I start? When you first walk in this hotel into the lobby you might actually think you’re staying at a clean and decent hotel. That is until you reach the floor your staying on an encounter hallways that smell like cigarettes and mildew. When we got to room door, there were stains all over the door as if someone had threw food on the door. When we entered the room, the room had a very strong mildew smell. The wallpaper on the walls were peeling. There were literally holes and large cracks in the walls. The comforters that were on the bed were paper thin and dingy looking and also had cigarette holes burned into them. The carpet on the floor was damp, clearly there is some type of water leak or something going on as to why the floor is damp and the place has such a strong mildew smell. When I walked into the bathroom the first thing I saw was bloody handprints on the light fixture, there was also no hot water. When I called downstairs with these complaints I was told they would speak to cleaning staff to do a better job. Fast forward to 11pm that night after returning from my family reunion we entered into the parking lot. After circling around several times , to our surprise there was no parking in any of the parking areas. I called the front desk who then told me there was no parking because the hotel was booked to capacity. I then told her I was also a paying customer and should have a parking space. She then apologized and said just park wherever you can just don’t block anyone in. So my family members and I had to park our vehicles in fire lane and hope we were not ticketed. When we got back to the room the room smelled even worse then before. Mildew smell was stronger and the room also smelled like a pet of some sort had been in the room. One of my family members went back to their room and found bed bugs in their pullout couch where their child was supposed to sleep. They were so upset they got on the road and left and drove back to Pennsylvania in the middle of the night. The board of health should be contacted and this hotel should be shut down and completely renovated. The Wyndham should be ashamed to have their name attached to such a filthy establishment, and charge $271 for these filthy rooms!!!

This hotel is crying out for some Help! Carpet is beyond worn and dirty ,pieces missing. Bathroom has mold on ceiling and soap dish. Missing paint walls. Furniture is outdated. Damp smell in room .

Room was a dump that smelled like stale cigarettes. We stayed in one of the pet friendly rooms which obviously means they don’t bother cleaning them or doing any kind of maintenance. Everything was dirty, the shower barely turned on and the drywall had huge scratches in multiple areas. I won’t even go into detail about the carpet but bring slippers or plan on wearing shoes anytime you are in the room. Parking lot completely full every night when we returned. We had to make parking spots wherever we could fit the van. Never again.

Upon arrival, the lobby had a strong musty and damp odor. After checking in and proceeding to our room, we were extremely disappointed with its condition. The carpet was visibly dirty, the door frames were unclean, and the room had an unpleasant smell. There were only two towels provided, the shower did not function properly, and none of the electrical outlets were working. We approached the front desk to request a room change, and the staff was accommodating. However, after inspecting the second room before moving our belongings and children, we found it to be in even worse condition. It was equally unclean and had a strong odor masked by an air freshener. Given the unacceptable state of both rooms, we immediately packed our things and decided to leave the hotel. It was clear that staying the night under those conditions was not an option. We informed the front desk of the issues and were assured that we would receive a refund. We have stayed at this location many times in the past and have always had positive experiences. It was disappointing to see the decline in cleanliness and overall maintenance.

This hotel was awful! The room, while clean, needs attention ASAP. Peeling paint on walls & ceiling, broken lamp, missing wallboard in bathroom & rips all over the carpet. When we spoke to the front desk manager, we were told they know but are waiting for Wyndham to redo the rooms. It can't happen soon enough.
