We stayed one night at this hotel while passing through town. Signs in the lobby noted that renovations are ongoing, which we appreciated knowing upfront. Upon check-in, a college baseball team appeared to be gathered in the breakfast area around 10 p.m., being loud and unruly. We weren’t on the first floor, so it didn’t directly affect us, but it set the tone. The front desk attendant, however, was very kind and welcoming. Our room was just okay. It looked clean on the surface but didn’t feel clean. The bedding was much thinner than the standard Holiday Inn Express linens, and the bed itself was entirely forgettable. The bathroom had no vent, which is unacceptable given the southern humidity. Paint was peeling from the ceiling, and we suspect there may have been mold. After sleeping, we noticed unpleasant stains on the side of the mattress—definitely not something you want to discover. Common areas were also in poor condition. Hallways and elevators were dirty—possibly due to the baseball team, but still unacceptable for an IHG property. The elevator felt unsafe: painters tape held up directional signage, and it made random noises and jerky movements. It feels like the renovation signs are used to lower guest expectations rather than justify specific disruptions. On the plus side, the location felt safe and was close to a few restaurants. We stay in 20–30 IHG properties a year, and this one ranks near the bottom. I wouldn’t return unless I was guaranteed a fully renovated room.
