The Cottage is straight out of a fairy tale with high wood beamed ceilings with freestanding wood burning stove. Your focus will be the Victorian King bed with upgraded bedding that you’ll only find in higher end B&B's . The en suite bathroom provides couples with a large full body shower as well as a deep soaking tub for two. Egyptian cotton towels.The massive bed has scattered throws, pillows and oversized duvet that faces the wood burning stove, and looks out to the expansive views. There is a kitchen with fridge, gas stove, and equipped with all the amenities you’ll need to stay at home and cook, and then some. A coffee and tea service is included. There is a large sofa with rocking chair at the end of the bed that faces the 55” LCD TV with High Definition Express View Satellite and DVD player equipped with built in surround sound. In 2023/2024, we completed a list of property improvements for this beautiful and charming house:(1) added mini-split A/C for the upstairs bedroom, living room, and dining/kitchen,(2) replaced the roof so it is now Energy Star efficient,(3) added solar panels and backup battery to reduce the property's carbon footprint,(4) repaired the aging cedar wood siding and improved installation,(5) completed a plumbing inspection and upgrades,(5) replaced three sets of balcony doors.The solar panel and backup batteries will make things easier during SDG&E's "Safety Power Shutoff." This means our guests will be more comfortable in this beautiful house (i.e., warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.) We continue to plant hundreds of daffodils, tall bearded irises, and seeding wildflowers inside and outside the property each year.We continue to be concerned about your health and safety. Therefore, we disinfect and deep clean our property after each customer visit. You will find a supply of cleaning and disinfecting items under each sink area (i.e., kitchen, upstairs bathroom, and downstairs bathroom). Liquid hand soap is also available at each of these locations.The most often customer comment is that the property pictures do not do justice to the beauty and scale of this property. We will let you be the judge on this.This property is best suited for families with children and pets, especially when you and your family are interested in accessing Julian with modern conveniences and comfort. Please note that we are provisioning this property for 6 -persons maximum, and exceptions will require the property owner's approval. For example, a recent guest asked us to support an 18-person family party, which we declined. We do not support large parties of any kind. We strive to have a calm, beautiful, and well-maintained property that can delight all of us.If you are looking for a property to celebrate elderly parents (i.e., Mother's Day, Father's Day, etc.), this may not be your property. We have a 14-step stair connecting the upstairs and downstairs. The living room, dining room, and kitchen are all located upstairs. Alternatively, a gradual garden side walkway leads to the kitchen backdoor to access the upstairs, but this may not work for your elderly parents. In addition, this property is not wheelchair accessible.Located only 5 minutes (approximately 2 miles) from downtown Julian, Bison Lodge provides couples and families a quiet, romantic getaway. The property was completely remodeled a few years back, with the notion of opening the living spaces to allow for quiet contemplation. The Bison Lodge offers two master-suite bedrooms and a third bedroom located downstairs. These three bedrooms provide privacy and charm. Each room is uniquely decorated with a specific theme and ambiance and tastefully appointed for comfort. In addition, the separately fenced gardens are ideal for children, four-legged kids (with a dog fee), outdoor dining, bird watching, and stargazing. Welcome to Shambala, a peaceful retreat in the beautiful mountains of Julian! This unique and newly renovated home is perfect for families, girls' getaways or romantic honeymoons. Shambala has magnificent views from every room, a star deck to enjoy Julian's stellar night sky, a gourmet kitchen, almost 4 acres to explore and a 40' swimming pool to dive into. Birdwatching, apple-picking, gorgeous hikes, great restaurants and fun in the snow - Julian’s got it all!Each beautifully decorated room is filled with art, comfort and good vibes!The main bedroom has a Juliette balcony for extra amazing mountain views, a king sized bed for the best dreams ever and an electric fireplace to keep things cozy! The second bedroom is expansive with a queen sized bed that has views to Volcan Mountain and beyond. The third bedroom, called Angels’ Landing, has its own outside access on the third floor and has two full beds tucked into this heavenly room. It even has its own star deck to gaze at the Milky Way.The kitchen is well stocked and spacious. There is intentionally no microwave to encourage slowing down. The Italian-made convection oven will get the job done!Both well-appointed bathrooms have lovely showers. Towels and sheets are included.The home is heated in the winter by a wood burning stove and electric fireplaces. In the summer, this well ventilated home has fans and a portable air conditioner in the main bedroom.The property is fully fenced which makes for a wonderful retreat for your dogs, too!A Sonos sound system throughout the house let’s you play your music of choice.For extra fun, we have an outdoor ping pong table, a tree swing, a hammock, a fire pit, board games and floaties for the pool.Shambala is located in the sought-after Pine Hills community in Julian. The peaceful neighborhood is wonderful for long walks among the Pine and Oak trees with wildflowers abundant year round. Just a 5 -10 minute drive to the historic downtown Julian, you will find excellent restaurants, quaint shops and delicious apple pies. Nearby you may go wine tasting, get massages, take a yoga class, hike Volcan Mountain, drink hard cider, listen to live music and take art classes at the Hubbell Ranch. At night, the stars are spectacular with Julian proudly being a certified International Dark Sky community. Breakfast Included at The Julian Cafe & Bakery! The Julian Cafe Family Cottage is a perfect family cabin nestled amongst the trees remodeled with modern amenities. Located one mile away from the town of Julian. The Julian Cafe Family cottage is the perfect place to unwind, stargaze at night, or just take in the fresh air!Located one mile from downtown Julian. Equipped with a fully stocked kitchen, one private bedroom and one open den with a twin over full bunk bed. The bathroom is fully stocked with amenities such as shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. The living room has generously sized TV with starlink wifi. This house is designed with a country cottage feel but equipped with modern amenities. Enjoy sitting on your private patio with a glass of wine, while the kids play uno!You will have the entire cottage to yourself, with access being sent prior to check in. There are about six steps leading up to the cabins so unfortunately we are not ADA accessible. Parking is available in front of the cottages. If both cottages are being rented at the same time, please be mindful not to park in the middle of the driveway. If parked accordingly there is parking for four cars, so it should never be a problem.BREAKFAST - LUNCH - DINNER - and of course PIE!!You will be given a voucher once checked in towards breakfast, lunch, dinner or a whole pie at the Julian Cafe and Bakery located at 2112 Main St. The Julian Cafe does not accept reservation; however, you can call them (the phone number is on the back of your voucher) and add your name to the waiting list. Important to know, if you are wanting breakfast, YOU MUST BE SEATED BY 11:30am. If you do not make it in time for breakfast, no worries, your vouchers are still good towards lunch, dinner or a whole apple pie!❄️*WINTER WEATHER TRAVEL- SNOW CHAINS!*❄️For reservations between NOV through MAR/APR, please ensure your vehicle carries snow chains in the event that your reservation dates coincide with a winter storm event (it’s helpful to keep an eye on the weather forecast in advance of your trip as well). During active snowfall, chains are required to traverse snowy mountain roads safely, and traffic officials will not allow passage to those without them, so please prepare accordingly!A NOTE ABOUT THE MOUNTAINS & WILDLIFE:Julian is a rural community in the mountains where wildlife abounds.
