Courtyard Brunswick

My Grandchildren and I checked in to the Marriott courtyard, hotel in Brunswick, Georgia. After checking in, I was given a room key in a room assignment after we got to the room we unpacked and got organized. My grandson noticed that the outlets were not working in the room nor did we have any lamps that were working at the time I called the front desk and they advised me they would call maintenance a few minutes passed and I got a return phone call from the front desk. They advised me that maintenance was aware of the problem and asked if we wanted to change rooms. I explain to them that I’ve already unpacked and I really don’t want to go through the trouble of having to move the next morning, I want to check out and advise the clerk at the desk about the issues with the room. I was told that the manager was aware of it, and that they were going to return my money for the room, but they stated that due to me paying a third-party, they would have to get with them to release the money. The next day I took my grandchildren to summer waves and the entire day I was having to go to my car to get some water to charge on my phone in case my husband needed to get in touch with me. This created a lot of problems for me the next day due to my phone not being adequately charged. My question is if they knew there was an issue with the rain. Why did they put me in it at this point I have not received a refund or been contacted by the hotel.

We just checked out of this hotel. Our dreary room with grey walls was poorly lit and the floors were filthy (See attached photo). There was no lamp beside our bed. I’m not sure if that’s typical or if ours was missing. There also were no electric outlets by either bed and zero USB outlets in the room. Our bathroom floor was very sticky and also dusty from an apparent repair that maintenance didn’t clean up after. I attempted to call the front desk but it just rang and rang. We were tired so I just cleaned the floor myself and went to bed. In the morning my husband attempted to get filtered water from the machine in the gym but it was broken. Even at a discounted rate we paid way too much for a dirty room at a hotel that doesn’t even offer free breakfast.

My husband and I were passing by heading to Boston and needed a place to stay for the night. Our cellphone was partially broken and we couldn't search Marriott related hotels. We love Marriott and we wanted to stay at a Marriott affiliated hotel. When I called Courtyard, Brunswick they said they were filled up. I then explained my phone was partially broken, couldn't go on the Marriott app to find an affiliated Marriott nearby. He said no problem and referred me to La Quinta and proceeded to give me their number. I said thank you. Guess what? La Quinta is NOT part of the Marriott Family! Not only did Marriott lose customers and the employee didn't know the Marriott hotel family.
