On the Rocks Bungalows, Restaurant and Jungle Trekking Tours

We came during Hari Raya, the staff were stretched but did a magnificent job to look after us and make us welcome. Thanks guys. Gary you did a great job organising our treasured trip. The best thing is the nature starts on site, everyday something new! On our jungle trek our guides were brilliant at helping and managing our kids navigate the tricky sections. Thanks Mr.Wong.

I can say is wow. We stayed in the waterfall bungalow. The view of the jungle and waterfall were stunning and we felt like we were right in the jungle. And all We could hear was the sounds of the wildlife. We were lucky enough to have the silver leaf Lingus play in the trees right in front of our balcony. Each day orangutans were in trees very close to the resort, we watched them from the resort. Food and service of all staff was exceptional. The decor and bungalows are beautiful and are suited to the environment. On the Rocks arranged a 2 night trek for us, which was a wonderful experience. Our guide, Ling is one of the best guides I have ever had. Dan our cook made us some delicious meals. The trek waa through the extremely beautiful scenery of the jungle and we were very lucky to spot plenty of orangutans and gibbons. Long was so caring and ensured that we were enjoying the trek as well as advising of hazards and where to go slowly etc. The meals we had packed each day were delicious, we had lovely fruit platters for morning tea and tasty noodles and chicken for Lunch during the trek. We came here for our honeymoon and had an absolutely AMAZING experience. Our treks, especially our over-night trek were spectacular. The hiking is no joke! But so worth it. Riding an inner tube along the river was so much fun. I wish everyone I know could have that experience. We stayed in two of the bungalows and each was crafted beautifully and had views that were just magic. The food was good and we loved the coffee. Thank you to our guides, Supri and Ipol, and to the whole On the Rocks staff! After our stay at On the Rocks, we traveled to Borneo to stay at Sukau Lodge to spot orangutans - that place is fancyyyy and we really enjoyed it but On the Rocks was the highlight of our trip. We spent much of our time in Borneo discussing how much we loved our experience in Sumatra. I will say that if you have any mobility issues, you may struggle with the many stairs leading to the lodge from the village.

Wir haben den Jungen Trek 2Nächte und 3 Tage mit Wong gemacht und über das Hotel gebucht. Der Trip war toll. Wong hat unglaublich viel erklärt und uns alles erzählt was wir wissen wollte. Außerdem hat er sich stets auch um unsere 9 jährige Tochter gekümmert für die der Trel teilweise recht anspruchsvoll war. Wir haben Irang Utans, Gibbons und viele andere Affenarten, den Hornbill und vieles mehr gesehen. Der Koch hat uns ganz toll mit Essen verwöhnt. Wir können den Jungelteek mit Wong vom On the Rocks nur empfehlen. Vielen Dank für die tollen Tage und die Kartentricks.

THIS TRIP WAS AMAZING. Staying here was a dream. The food was great and easy on our stomachs. Our overnight tour was INCREDIBLE and so worth it. We stayed in at a camp site near a waterfall. Our guide Sepri Encek was so kind and helped us to spot animals away from your groups. Agus prepared our jungle dinner and helped us to raft. We loved them both. On the Rocks helped us book a day tour with Ipol who was perfect at looking for snakes when he learned we were interested. We would love to come here again. This was AMAZING.

Wenn man endlich die 256 Stufen erklommen hat, landet man in einer wunderschönen Gegend mit Sicht über das Tal und den Dschungel. Von unserer Terrasse aus konnten wir fast täglich Affen beobachten. Wir hatten die zwei Bungalows Leuser und Gunung Hut, welche mit einer Verbindungstür verbunden waren. Entgegen der Beschreibungen hatten wir in beiden Hütten warmes Wasser. Die Bungalows wurden während unserem Aufenthalt von 4 Nächten nie gereinigt. Die Duschtücher wurden nach unserer Nachfrage gewechselt. Restaurant: die indonesischen Gerichte waren alle köstlich. Westliche Gerichte sind weniger zu empfehlen, da wir etwas anderes darunter verstehen. Personal: extrem freundlich und flexibel. Wir machten mehrere Tagestrekkings, was super klappte. Dabei hatten wir sehr aufmerksame Führer, welche uns durch den spannenden Regenwald führten. Wir hatten das Glück auf jedem Trekking mehrere Orangutans zu sichten.
