Bunaken Divers Sea Breeze Resort

In tre coppie, abbiamo prenotato dall’Italia confidando su quanto scritto sul sito web. Avevamo letto le valutazioni dei clienti e ce ne erano alcune entusiastiche ed altre molto critiche, non essendoci unanimità abbiamo deciso di provare. Una vera disavventura! Appena arrivati abbiamo avuto la conferma che nei bungalows non c’era acqua calda e per di più l’acqua disponibile era salata! I bungalows sono risultati molto trascurati e sporchi, senza aria condizionata e con solo un ventilatore, con il pavimento e le pareti piene di fessure, sicuramente un homestay sarebbe stato migliore. Il cibo è risultato essere di varietà praticamente nulla, molto monotono, senza scelta e con le quantità disponibili insufficienti, tutto estremamente spicy. Inoltre la nostra richiesta di condire meno piccante è stata totalmente ignorata. Il proprietario Terry, istruttore subacqueo, alla nostra domanda del perché non si poteva avere il nitrox la sua risposta è stata che il nitrox non serve! Alla seconda immersione, divisi in due gruppi con lui ed un’altra guida, è sceso in acqua per ultimo, essendo la nostra guida e non conoscendo l’immersione io e mia moglie lo abbiamo seguito e lui, incurante, è sceso fino a 41 metri, alle mie grida si è girato e si è anche meravigliato che noi fossimo lì, alla faccia della sicurezza! Sicuramente non siamo stati fortunati con il tempo ma la pioggia insistente ha messo in evidenza tutti i limiti della struttura, infatti in tutti bungalow pioveva all’interno e Terry alla nostra constatazione ha ammesso di saperlo. Saremmo dovuti rimanere da sabato 15 marzo ’25 al 31 dello stesso mese, ma dopo una settimana umidi 24 ore al giorno , affamati e trascurati, abbiamo deciso di lasciare la struttura. Inoltre quando è stato il momento di pagare ci è stato detto che avremmo potuto farlo anche con paypal ; una coppia di amici lo ha fatto, ha giustamente pagato la differenza del 4% a suo favore, dopodichè Terry ha detto alla mia amica di essersi accorto che i soldi li avrebbe ricevuti dopo tre settimane e pretendeva di farle annullare la transazione. Unica nota positiva la competenza e la bravura delle guide subacquee locali. Quindi tirando le somme : -resort che più che tale è un homestay, anche di basso livello - bungalows fatiscenti e molto trascurati, oltre che sporchi - assenza di acqua dolce e mancanza di acqua calda -cucina povera, monotona, poco abbondante e molto piccante - owner poco affidabile ( dopo tre giorni è sparito ed è tornato nella sua casa di Manado e si è fatto sentire, al telefono, solo quando abbiamo detto di voler andare via) Una esperienza totalmente negativa e da non consigliare, a meno che non siate dei masochisti!

I write the summary of my impressions as a snorkeller. Plus - Diana and Terry are the best hosts one can imagine. The place is basic but their attitude and helpfulness was 5*. - Incredibly many snorkeling places nearby. Very beautiful coral gardens and unbelievable reef walls. For me the absolute highlight were the turtles which are everywhere. Also big ones, several different kinds. Plentiful beautiful fish !! (Mostly smaller sizes except trigger (?) and parrot). - Despite being a dive center, snorkellers are not treated "second class" on the excursions (like it often is elsewhere). There were always snorkellers too, sometimes as much as divers and all were happy. - Bungalows are nice and spacey, albeit could benefit from a bit polishing. - Drinks (soft drinks and beer) are reasonably priced and the counting system works well - Such a nice atmosphere during meals ! - Internet with a cellular connection works perfectly fine, therefore preferably use a local SIM card or flexiroam, etc. if you need it i the room (WiFi in the dining area/reception) Minus (sort of, only; nothing serious, my subjective thoughs ...) - On the first day it was so humid and hot that I thought that without air condition it will be really hard. Then the weather fortunately turned back to normal August. Still A/C would be great, even if the expenses mean that the room rates must go up (I might very well be a minority, feeling that way). - Food is very tasty but gets a bit repetitive after a while (You would not feel that way if you stay 4 nights or so).

Nous avons passé une agréable semaine sur l'île de Bunaken, le resort est idéalement situé en bord de mer. Les bungalow ont la plupart vu sur mer, il comprends une moustiquaire, un ventillateur, un nécessaire de toilettes. Le petit point négatif est que l'eau du robinet est salé et que nous ne pouvons pas choisir la température mais etant donné la chaleur extérieure ce n'est pas réellement dérangeant. Juste au pied de l'hôtel, le snorkeling est directement accessible. Le propriétaire des lieux propose tous les jours des plongées sous marine. Les trois repas de la journée sont compris, il s'agit d'un buffet avec plusieurs choix à chaque fois plutôt bon. L'ensemble du personnel est disponible et souriant.

Right from the get go, Terry answered all my questions quickly and in detail and made arrangements for our smooth transfer from the mainland to Bunaken. We stayed for 5 nights and did 12 dives. The corals are amazing at any depth and we saw at least 10 turtles on every dive! We did not have to lift a finger to do anything at all except jump into the water when the guides told us to. The crew ensured that the sites were appropriate for everyone's skill level and worked tirelessly to ensure we had the best possible time. We had 3 delicious meals every day. Do request for the sambal if you like spicy food! If you're lucky, you may even get serenaded by Jeff and Mickey, who are excellent dive guides AND musicians. At the end of my stay, Terry even arranged for the captain of the public ferry to escort me to the pier for journey back to Manado. Great diving, great food, great staff and great company - I would gladly dive again with Bunaken Divers!
