Finlen Hotel and Motor Inn

We adore the Finlen Hotel. Sandra and her staff were very friendly and accommodating. Yes, the hotel is old, but that is its charm. (It is also clean.) You can squint and transport yourself back to an earlier time. If time travel is your thing, Butte is your town, and the Finlen is your place. Amazing!

No AC! At a premium price in a near ghost town this is not worth it. Butte is a sad, depressing community recking of desperation and the smell of oil. The “lounge” is in desperate need of repair and caters to the locals. Butte is the armpit of Montana!

We’ve stayed here a few times now and always a great time. Staff are friendly, rooms are clean, and the cavalier lounge is a fantastic place for a drink. Location is easy to explore uptown Butte and there is parking. Wouldn’t choose to stay anywhere else.

Nice historical hotel in Butte. We loved that it was in walking distance of what we wanted to do. Staff was friendly and helpful and parking was easy. Cool views from the top floors and the rooms were decently sized. Close to the bars/ pubs we wanted to go to and within walking distance.

Overall a nice historic hotel with reasonably spacious rooms. Looking at pics of the exterior, one might assume that all rooms have a nice view, however our window just looked out into another brick wall. Air-conditioning is a portable unit that stands on the floor and a bit loud. I think that for the nightly fee, which is relatively high for this area, they should include at least a continental breakfast instead of just coffee. Parking is great.

We spent one night at the Finlen. The architecture and lobby are very impressive. Our room was dated, but spacious and the bed was comfortable. The water pressure was good although the drain had a hard time keeping up. There is a free parking lot at the building. There are a few restaurants within walking distance. Check-in and out was quick. The bartender was friendly. I would have no concerns about staying here again if I happened to be in Butte.
