I stayed with a colleague for a week in mid-July at the Hostal Blanca (room 46). We had some bad experiences: - the shower was very dirty, it had yellow edges, lots of limescale and strange hairs on the shower floor - the water in the shower was sometimes extremely hot and then very cold, the jet was constantly changing - the shower doors didn't close properly, so the floor was always wet - the shower is very small, too narrow for larger people - the washbasin was dirty and the soap dispenser was empty - the toilet seat was bright yellow and slanted (broken/loose) - the bathroom mirror was dirty and scratched/broken on the edges - there is no proper wardrobe, everything is open - the safe is not attached and not all the buttons work - the towels are dirty, stained and smell very bad - the bed linen was NEVER changed and we already had strange hairs and stains on the blanket on the first evening - the room service NEVER cleaned the floor, they just emptied the trash can and changed the towels - I don't really understand it, as the hostel is near the beach and it makes sense is that the floor gets dirty over time - the clothesline on the balcony is broken and very dirty - not usable! - the table and the two chairs on the balcony were sticky - the reception is NOT open 24/7 (only from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.!!!) - the card keys didn't work SEVERAL TIMES - the room door is very difficult to open, very bad for older people or people with disabilities - the trash can in the bathroom was rusty and dirty - the bathroom door (a DIY sliding door) keeps opening (rather impractical when you're showering) and you can see right into the bathroom from the side (where the mirror is in the room or when you're just lying on the bed) (directly onto the toilet) - the curtains are dirty and covered in paint - there are 2 large cracks in the ceiling (water damage, mold??) We also had a very unpleasant and frustrating experience with the "customer service". We came back one night at 2am and wanted to go to the room but oh wonder, the card didn't work (again). As the reception doesn't open until 8am, we went downstairs and found a card with a number on the small table. That was the first problem: we live in Switzerland and neither of us could make international calls, so the phone number was useless. Luckily we saw two guys outside - I went over to them and borrowed one of them's phone because that was the ONLY way to get help (cheeky!). The guy on the phone was a joke - at first he spoke Spanish to me until he realized that I also spoke Spanish. He switched to English, hoping he wouldn't understand him - well, bad luck, I can speak English too (but he doesn't really...). So we talked back and forth on the phone for ages. You could tell that the man had no idea.
