Parador de Cangas de Onis

El parador esta totalmente reformado, el spa es fenomenal, ambiente tranquilo, las habitaciones superiores espectaculares, muy grandes y agradables, volveremos siempre que se pueda.

Tuvimos la suerte de elegir este lugar para el alojamiento de nuestros invitados y para la celebración de la boda de mi hijo y tengo que decir que fue un acierto, todo el equipo demostró una gran profesionalidad y cercanía. Es un lugar muy bonito pero que se complementa con el buen hacer y la seriedad. Gracias al director por estar pendiente de que todo saliera fenomenal. Gracias .

Everything was perfect

This is the place to experience deep history, Take a pause, disconnect, relax and enjoy the quiet of this parador. It is a 3-star room stay and the beds are a bit hard, but the service is excellent. Breakfast buffet and cool to order eggs a delight! The quality of the food is high. The building that now houses Parador Cangas de Onis was founded in the 8th century as a monastery by Alfonso I and his wife – the daughter of Pelayo. During the rehabilitation of the Monastery of San Pedro de Villanueva, many artifacts from the various stages in the history of this place were unearthed and rediscovered. Two rooms in the Parador have been set aside as museum display rooms for these artifacts. Walk down to the river trail through the village to enjoy the horreos - raised houses used for storage of dry goods.

Reference: our stay Saturday 17 May 2025 Incident: My husband trapped alone in lift for over 30 mins. COMPLAINT: * No on site duty manager or deputy manager on a Saturday evening in a hotel of over 60 rooms. *Badly trained staff who ignored the lift alarm, assuming instead that it was a car alarm from one the cars parked outside. *No possibility of direct access to lift by any member of staff. Instead a lift engineer had to make an emergency call out to repair the lift. He was located an hour away. *Lack of an emergency communication system between trapped lift occupant & reception staff. We believe this may contravene Spanish health and safety regulation / ITC -AEM 1. *My husband was very shaken by his experience of his enforced solitary confinement. Had he not been fit and well, the incident could have easily deteriorated into a serious personal health issue. The Parador had a lucky escape. *When we eventually sat down to eat a very late dinner, the staff around us were clearing tables in the rather cavernous basement dining room to set up for the breakfast buffet. *For our very disrupted and unpleasant stay, the Parador manager offered no compensation, even in kind. We received from him only a corporate complaints form which has subsequently got us absolutely nowhere within the Parador organisation. *Moral of our story: be sure to deal with any matters of customer (dis)satisfaction on the spot and in person. And keep your expectations low. P.S. Food at this Parador was very average. P.P.S. You are obliged to pay for drinking water in your room.

Mi primera experiencia en paradores, que resultó totalmente satisfactoria, el parador fantástico, en un entorno precioso como es Cangas de Onís. Me hubiese gustado que nos hubieran alojado en la parte antigua y no en una zona remodelada.
