Mission Ranch Hotel

We had the most wonderful stay at Mission Ranch. The Staff, accommodation, restaurant and setting were all excellent and beyond our expectation, would highly recommend a stay here. The View from our room across the Ranch to the sea was spectacular. We will be back!

Visited the bar twice. Amazing view. Terrible drinks. Both times. During our last visit I ordered a whiskey sour. It came with a lime wedge. I don't know what they thought they were serving but it wasn't a whiskey sour. Champagne came in a screw top bottle. The prices are reasonable but hard to recommend the place.

Nowhere near as good as I expected it to be given the hype. Rooms need an update - the mattress was well past its sell by date and the TV and cable box were from the 1990’s. Our patio looked straight into a hedge (see photos) and saddest of all the staff generally didn’t look like they wanted to be there. In my four interactions with Reception not once did either of the staff working even get out their chairs to speak to me. Getting a room refresh isn’t automatic - it has to be requested from Reception after 10am which is no use if you are out for the day! We ended up with a towel mountain by the end of our three night stay! Acoustics in the room isn’t great either - we stayed in a Ranch Triplex (mid range) and could hear every word the guests next door said. Restaurant was fairly good but there are way better for the same price ticket in the middle of Carmel (see my other reviews). Lovely view from the restaurant patio but once you’ve seen it once…… Trading off of Clint’s name in my opinion - lots of local’s singing along at the piano at the bar in the evening, if that’s what you’re looking for go for it!

Beautiful grounds!! So glad we stayed here. Quiet and serene. The sheep marching in every morning was incredible. The food in the resturant was delicious. So close to nature and the beach.

So to correct a previous review * this was a Ranch a working ranch -that word is a broad term in California . Not just for cattle grazing . It can include vegetables and other produce. Thanks to preservation, it’s now a place where locals and tourist can come and celebrate the rich history of Carmel with great views ,music ,and wonderful food Suzanne lottie Trevor and Brent you’re the best ! You all make this place a must see

This spot is fabulous! It's about 6-8 blocks off the main street, so if you don't want to walk this might not be your place, but for us it was absolutely perfect. It's set on an old ranch, and the buildings have been replicated in the original style. Their is a fabulous restaurant on property that serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and cocktails, plus has a piano bar. There is a gorgeous multi-level patio off the restaurant with a fireplace, heat lamps, and a view of both the meadow (and it's resident sheep!), and the ocean. The rooms are quite large with very comfy beds, plus seating for 2 and a table. There is a refrigerator in the room. The lighting is great, and the bathroom is large as well. The prices were unbelievably cheap - like over $400 less per night than anything else we looked at up in the town. We will be back over and over!
