Wonderful lunch with my partner and little girl. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. A wide range of options on the menu and what we chose was delicious! We were told the menu was due to change soon so we are planning a return visit soon!

We came here as a group of 8, including 2 little ones, for a drink in the gorgeous courtyard in the sunshine. This turned in to a spontaneous dinner inside the pub. The staff could not have been more accommodating (Alfie and Dominic I believe) they were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The drinks menu is extensive and the high quality of food is noticeable. I had the most flavoursome shell on prawns from the specials board in a mouthwatering garlic and chilli butter served with crusty sourdough to mop up every last drop of the sauce. With both the quality of the produce and top notch service, the castle inn is definitely good value for money. I will 100% be returning and recommending to all my friends.

Where do I start! From entry they were very welcoming! Management are doing a fab job! Their team is amazing! Unlike what other reviews have said! And the food! Wow! The set menu was amazing! And I’m still thinking about it! And the chips are to die for !

Booked for lunch. Food was great but the experience was let down by poor, inattentive service. We had to intercept a member of staff every time we wanted to order something - drinks, food, more drinks, bill. It was really disappointing especially since there was absolutely no shortage of staff and the lunch service was only moderately busy (plenty of free tables). Would I go there again? Probably not.

Beautiful pub in a cracking location great menu but the attitude of the young woman at the bar convinced my wife that we wouldn’t spend money on food here. I see others have said the same, this pub will lose money until front of house addresses their negative approach to customers. Too busy cleaning the coffee machine to serve customers at the bar. The Australians and Americans at the bar were not impressed either. Never to return. Oh, and “ you can’t sit there until three o’clock” - at five minutes to three. Pathetic. And I don’t do negative reviews. But this one’s deserved.

Inedible vegetarian meal called Aubergine Caponate, tough and tasteless. Tried to cut the Aubergine but had difficulty. Asked for a serrated knife but still had great difficulty trying to cut into the Aubergine. What little I managed to eat was also tasteless so left 90% of the meal. Highlighted the problem but was told that the chef and management were both happy with the meal but they weren’t the ones eating it! Positive from this, I realise I can cook tastier and better veggie meals myself.

Amazing spontaneous dinner out, very warm welcome as we walked in and were seated. Lovely high end food. Couldn’t fault anything at all. Will definitely be back :)

Fabulous stay at beautiful pub / hotel. Room luxurious as was pub interior. Continental breakfast could do with smarting up but cooked breakfast was excellent.
