Zlata Ladjica Boutique Hotel

Prior to its transformation into boutique hotel, this was a drinking haunt for university students. The extensive craft beer list honours this history and we enjoyed exploring by both beer and wines by the glass, with their knowledgeable soms. Tariff is high, rooms are compact, but the service is excellent - feels like a handcrafted, personable experience centered around a comfortable rest and great food in the heart of Old town Ljubljana.

Unique, beautiful, historic hotel with warm and knowledgeable staff. Everyone was so lovely and friendly and proud of the history of the hotel and of Ljubljana. The views from the balcony in our room were stunning! Each room tells its own historical stories about Ljubljana. The rooms have beautiful architectural details. The breakfast is delicious and bespoke, with Slovenian delicacies. We loved our stay.

We stayed at Zlata Ladjica Boutique Hotel for three nights. It has only 15 individually designed rooms and is ideally located right by the river, in the heart of Ljubljana’s pedestrian-only Old Town. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a high-quality, characterful stay in lovely Ljubljana. The hotel is perfectly situated on the riverside promenade. Everything in the city center is within walking distance. Since cars aren’t allowed in the Old Town, you’re dropped off just outside and walk a few minutes to the hotel. Transfers from the airport are possible via shuttle, taxi, or public bus. We stayed in Room 15, which offered views of both the castle, the river, and the lively outdoor terrace. The room was bright, modern, and thoughtfully renovated. A standout feature was the Jura coffee machine – a first for us in a hotel room, and it was great to enjoy freshly brewed coffee whenever we liked. There are two distinct dining experiences: A casual pub-style space with a terrace, featuring an extensive beer selection and light meals – great for a relaxed afternoon or a pre-dinner Aperol Spritz. In addition, a restaurant serves breakfast and dinner in a more elegant setting. Breakfast was a highlight, with several sweet and savory set menus based on local and seasonal ingredients. Additional à la carte options like eggs, porridge, and muesli were freshly prepared. The service was incredibly friendly and professional – the team speaks excellent English, and some also speak German and Italian. The private spa is small but beautifully designed, with a steam room, sauna, and the option to book massages. It’s available for exclusive use, meaning you have the entire space to yourself during your session – a very relaxing experience.

Wonderful experience here. The room was fresh and interesting and the friendly and eager staff made the stay a complete delight. The concierge Jernej emailed several times before we arrived to help with restaurant reservations and was endlessly helpful and delightful throughout. The terrific and elegant breakfast is served at the table (no buffet) with freshly made breads and jams, fruits, cake, and whatever eggs, yogurt, cereal (or anything else!) you might want. We had one dinner there, the 4-course tasting menu, which was perfectly prepared, interesting flavors and well worthy of a Michelin star. We would return to Ljubljana just for the hotel and the wonderful people.

First know that this boutique hotel is in the city Center. And it’s a pedestrian only city. We had the hotel staff meet us to help walk us to the hotel from where we parked. Very fancy. The Hotel had Old World Charm yet was very exquisite. Everything was within a short stroll. Food outstanding at breakfast and they made sure you were well fed. Rooms are immaculate yet time stood still with some older elements sprinkled into the Decor. Loved every minute of it.
